On check-in, we had to wait for a long time for a member of staff to notice us, after a long and hot drive. Once we were noticed, the member of staff was friendly, but she gave us a key to a room, which once we used it to enter the room, had other guests' belongings in it!! Luckily the guests themselves were not in the room, otherwise it would have been very embarrassing for all of us! On going back down to reception to let them know that they had given me the key to someone elses room, the receptionist just laughed and gave me another key, forgetting to ask for the other guest's key back... so once I found our room (which luckily was empty this time!), I then had to return the other key to the other guestroom. Obviously this was a vast security breach, as their belongings and valuables were in that room, to which I had the key!!
Later on, I asked for two towelling robes to use for the swimming pool, and was told that these would be available after we had eaten our dinner. Once I returned to the reception desk after dinner, these were still not available; the reception clerk rang housekeeping whilst I was there, but after standing and waiting for 5mins, I told him not to worry, as I would use the swimming pool towels, to walk back to my room, as I did not want to miss the last half hour of the pool being open.
The original reception staff also did not tell us what time breakfast would be served until, and there was much confusion over this when I rang down, as it was a BH.
