Thinking of booking a flight to the delightful Welsh town of Pembroke?
You’ll find its glorious row of Regency houses contain many surprises. Within them there are fantastic spa hotels, cracking country inns, welcoming guesthouses and even an antique shop stocked literally to the rafters that’s housed in an old Methodist chapel.
Your flight will take you to a town that has beautiful beaches within easy driving distance with plenty of water sports and activities on offer. There’s even a daily ferry service that can drop you over in Ireland. What’s more in Pembroke itself there is a magnificently incongruous castle slap bang in the centre.
It’s time to book that flight: there is just too much you won’t want to miss out on here.
The closest airport for flights to Pembroke is Cardiff International Airport. The airport is located in the Vale of Glamorgan at Rhoose, 12 miles to the east of Cardiff.
From Cardiff Airport to Pembroke by road it is about 100 miles, but the roads are good and the journey should take you under two hours.
To explore the glorious coastline of Pembrokeshire, and the gorgeous Welsh countryside of the interior, it makes sense to rent a car. Car rental will also make your journey from the airport a lot quicker than relying on public transport and a lot more economical than the long taxi ride.
Car rental can be booked through Expedia, meaning that you can simply pick up your chosen car as soon as your flight lands, without the need to fill in all those forms in the arrival hall.
Cardiff Airport is very busy: there are more than a million passengers passing through every year and this means that there is a wide variety of inbound and outbound flights available.
Over 14 airlines offer flights to destinations around the world from Cardiff Airport. Direct flights are available both within Europe and internationally.
The most popular flights within the UK are those from Edinburgh, Glasgow International, Belfast, Aberdeen and Newcastle. UK flights to Cardiff Airport generally take an hour, but there are some that involve more than one stop, which can lead to much longer flight times. If this is the case with flights available to you, your best bet is to check for alternative flights to Bristol (but the transfer time from Bristol by road is about two and a half hours).
Cardiff Airport offers everything that travellers may need: there are hotel on its doorstep, ATMs and exchange kiosks, plenty of places to freshen up or grab a bite to eat and a good choice of car hire desks.
You may want to explore the vibrant Welsh capital, and take advantage of the hotels near the airport to do this, before you head on to Pembroke after your flight.
By car it’s major roads all the way to Pembroke. From the airport head for the M4 and after 41 miles take the A48. From here you drive 11 miles until the A40 and A477 drop you into Pembroke and its famous castle looms into view.
Enjoy your break!
