Flights to Bristol for Travelling to Cardiff

Many carriers flying to Cardiff do not fly direct. You may find it more convenient to take a flight to Bristol and complete your journey by road or rail. It’s a 40 mile journey to the centre of Cardiff and by road, using the M4, it takes about 45 minutes. There are plenty of trains leaving regularly from the airport for the hour and a half journey to Cardiff.

Getting to Cardiff After Your Flight

Cardiff Airport is situated just 12 miles from the city centre. In about 30 minutes by car, taking the A4226, you will be in the city centre. There is a taxi rank is located just outside the airport entrance should you need it. By train you need to catch a shuttle bus to Rhoose station where you can catch a train to Cardiff, it will take about fifty minutes. Regular buses leave direct for Cardiff and take just 40 minutes.

When to Book a Flight to Cardiff

Around February and March flights to Cardiff tend to get booked very quickly as the Six Nations tournament is held at this time. There is always lots going on in Cardiff but this is particularly the case during August when the Cardiff Festival brings street performers, events and parades out onto the city’s streets.

The new policy of bags in hold was a problem for ground staff atTfs and some still managed to bring on very large bags. The staff were excellent especially as my husband is an invalid and very slow, they had endless patience.

Just 2 comments first is when we checked in fly out we didn't realise but me and my husband were not seating together the customer assistant there could of told us or explained. And the 2nd was flying back when the assistant at the airport said to use the machine to check in we tried for a while but was telling to pay for luggage when this had already been paid we left it and queued up only 2 staff on for customer but then there were 2 on for flight attendants very slow service but we had a lovely smooth flight
