There are a number of stopover options to choose from to find the cheapest flight.

Most flights to Bali from London connect at least once, usually in Dubai, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.

Travel time will be affected by which location you fly from. For instance, flights from the UK’s northern cities will take longer than those from London and will usually include two stopovers.

Main Airports in Bali

Bali is home to Denpasar International Airport, Indonesia’s third busiest airport. Its proximity to Bali’s nearby island chains ensures Denpasar receives a wide range of flights from a selection of well-known airlines. As one of the most popular destinations in Indonesia, just some of the airlines landing here include:

Getting Around in Bali

Located about eight miles north of central Bali, Denpasar International Airport is conveniently located for travelling to your final destination.

A regular shuttle service runs from Denpasar to central Bali. However, the best way of getting to your accommodation may be by taxi or rental car.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you could also consider hiring a motorbike. This is no doubt the favoured form of transport for the locals, and it’s a great way of nipping about the island to explore its sun-kissed beaches and temples at your own leisure.

What Are the Must-Sees in Bali?

While Bali is famed for its idyllic setting, ancient temples and surfing opportunities, there are some hidden gems not to be missed.

The island is home to a number of abandoned aeroplanes that make for some unique holiday snaps. Hidden on beaches, in forests and even on the roof of an abandoned mall, these peculiar attractions are one way to guarantee an unusual experience.

Better yet, if you’re a fan of things abandoned, then you’ll be enchanted by Bali’s underwater temple garden at Nusa Lembongan. Here, visitors can snorkel or scuba dive to explore the submerged shrines and a huge statue of the Buddha beneath the big blue.

Tips for Travelling to Bali

If you’re generally more used to jet setting around Europe, it’s important to bear in mind that passports must be valid at least six months from your date of entry into Indonesia. If your passport is valid less than six months you are likely to be turned away at the border.

You will also require a visa, but you can purchase this upon arrival. For British nationals, a visa should cost around 20 GBP (varying slightly, depending on exchange rates).

Food service isn’t as good as last year, and no coffee, likely because budgets have been cut, but please bring back the great food and coffee!

At the self check in we were allocated seats one behind the other. Would have preferred to sit together but no way of changing the seats once boarding passes were printed.
