On France’s Cote d’Azur, Antibes is a pretty resort town, popular with holidaymakers heading for its fine beaches, warm Mediterranean climate and great array of attractions. When you visit Antibes, you’ll fall for the old town’s narrow cobbled streets, charming architecture, and the 16th-century ramparts and old fortress that dominate the seafront. In the more modern parts of the city, you can enjoy a good range of amenities from theatres and cinemas to casinos, bars and restaurants.
Antibes is within easy reach of a number of charter-only airports and heliports but the best and most convenient for most Antibes travellers to book a flight to is Nice’s Cote d’Azur Airport. It’s the closest airport to the holiday resort at 13 miles from Antibes, which you can reach by car in just under half an hour or by public transport – a combination of bus and train – in an hour and a half.
The Cote d’Azur Airport is served by many major airlines, such as British Airways, Aer Lingus, Lufthansa and Iberia, as well as budget airlines like easyJet, Monarch and Ryanair.
Luxury and business travellers can also charter private flights to Cannes Mandelieu Airport. The airport lies two miles west of Cannes centre and is also 13 miles from Antibes. The best way to reach Antibes from Cannes is by car in just under half an hour or by train, taking around 40 minutes. There is also Croisette Heliport in Cannes and Monaco Heliport in Monaco if you happen to be arriving by helicopter.
Arriving in Antibes, you will find a good range of hotels, from five-star luxury to casual three-star accommodation and several family-friendly or self-catering places to stay, too. Many of the hotels in Antibes have their own swimming pool to make use of the warm climate, and some of the more stylish options even have their own private beach. There are also plenty of attractions within easy reach of most hotels, including the Picasso Museum, in the Chateau Grimaldi, and the Marineland theme parks, filled with fun and adventure for the whole family.
Since most visitors to Antibes take flights to Nice or Cannes, you should take time to explore them. Put aside a day before your flight to visit the chic French cities or organise a day trip. Spend the day in Cannes for its gourmet restaurants, luxury marina and stylish La Croisette seafront promenade. If you’re here during the time of the Cannes Film Festival in May, you may also want to go celeb spotting around the Palace of Festivals and Congress Hall. Nice is the city for history, art and culture lovers, with its charming old town – Vieux Nice – and elegant Promenade des Anglais. The city also has a number of fantastic museums including the Matisse Museum, the Marc Chagall National Museum and the Contemporary and Modern Art Museum to wander around as you wait for your flight.
