This hotel was an unexpected jewel. By far the best hotel in Rennes! The service is outstanding. Alexandre and Marike made us feel very taken care of. The amenities are above and beyond what we expected. From coffee to bottles of water and madeleines every night in the room. The rooms are clean, modern and spacious. The bar and appetizers are super. Try the hibiscus Gin and tonic. You will thank me for the advice! The spa is welcoming, quiet and a great place to finish the day. We liked this hotel so much that we cancelled a reservation in Saint Malo to go back and spend one more night at Balthazar!

The Staff were very nice, spoke English and very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very upscale and the rooms, although a bit small, were very nice. The restaurant was fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

This is the second time I've stayed at the Balthazar. Pros: Quiet location, close to shopping. First-rate breakfast buffet. Cons: The room air-conditioning could be improved. The room was a bit warm and stuffy, even though I had the air conditioning set to the coldest level. The mini-bar is free but it does not contain any alcohol. It would be nice to add some beer and wine to the mini-bar in the rooms to avoid the hassle of having to order room service.

Top hotel due to staff
Concierge parking. Room double doors both double glazed so soundproof from road below. Attentive staff, good maps with restaurant classes. Excellent breakfast worth paying for.

Nice property near the old city. Our room had a little balcony with roof top views. Modern, spacious and my wife loved the spa. Staff was warm and welcoming. Waze keep me going in circles so they talked me to a place where I could park and the valet came to get us. Room was spacious and great price makes this a terrific value. You won’t regret booking here. Just use the street name when inputting your navigation app. They replenished the mini bar daily. The toilet is in a separate area but does not have a sink.

This is a magnificent hotel and spa in the heart of beautiful , historic and vibrant Rennes. The hotel staff were exceptional- immediately welcoming and accommodating, concerned that all of our needs were met and questions answered. We will stay here again the next time we are in Rennes and we would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Thank you!

Peace and calm
Love this hotel. So stylish with super efficient staff. Park the car on the street outside and it is taken away and brought back in the morning. A convenient location to be able to walk to a nearby brasserie. Super suite up on the fifth floor overlooking the rooftops of Rennes.

This is a lovely modern hotel staffed by young clerks who are eager to help your stay go smoothly. The tricky part for us is that the street is closed to motor traffic except for buses. This really confused us, as we drove round and round trying to find a place to park so that we could check in. No luck! We finally had to drive down the forbidden street and park up on the sidewalk in front of the hotel in order to check in. This turned out to be exactly what everyone does, and then the valet takes your car away somewhere to park it. So, you will have to get everything out of your car that you think you will need during your stay, as it is tricky to get to your car again. Once we managed that, everything else about the stay was just wonderful. The room, the breakfast, the shower, the comfortable bed, the cleanliness... all good! Great location for exploring Rennes.

A true 5 star hotel, in an elegant and understated way. Spacious room, large walk in shower, very nice amenities. The breakfast is delicious with hot items cooked to order along with a buffet. Lovely helpful staff! Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Rennes

The staff was excellent. The city of Rennes was disappointing. I would not walk around the area of the hotel after dark. There are beggars everywhere and I did not feel safe.
