I actually cried when I had to leave. Loved it!
This was such an amazing experience. I felt like I was at home away from home. I LOVED the staff! Rebecca the Inn Keeper was amazing and really personalized our stay. She knew her stuff and we knew we could reach out to her with any needs. The Chefs were great and everyone treated our dog like he was a king. For the first time in his life (no joke) he actually sat down and relaxed while in public as if he was taking in the property and all its beauty. It almost turned out being a vacation more for him. Rebecca also went out of her way to get my husband's favorite dessert for his birthday. We stayed in one of the separated cabins and that was so convenient with the dog and the rooms have everything you need. Towels were plush and soap, shampoo, condition, shower gel provided. Please keep in mind that this is an old charming property surrounded by nature so your room may be a bit more rustic than you are accustomed to. Understanding that, you will feel honored to stay in such a historical room/place with its awesome original adornments and architecture. We also enjoyed the hiking behind the property and near the river, visiting the horses near the property, sitting/reading spaces, walking around the property with our dog, and the outdoor dining and 'on point' breakfast. It was really a special experience. Can't wait to come back and even I asked my husband for another stay for my birthday. That is how much I loved and needed this place in my life. :)

Caution if observing COVID-19
Not the betst place if you are observing COVID-19 restrictions. Upon check-in, the person wanted me to know that they were exempt from rules and masks were not needed. An eye roll or two definitely took place as she was speaking. We were staying at an Inn as an alternative to a large hotel, and it made me uneasy. You have to walk through the kitchen to get to some of the rooms, so not the easiest to social distance. Also, bring your own shampp and shower gel for the shower- there wasn't any in our room.

Not a 4-star
If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place. The cottage we stayed in was quaint and comfortable. The innkeeper (Rebecca) was very nice and helpful but way overworked. This inn would benefit with better grounds and building maintenance and more staff. Common areas were very dusty but room was clean. This inn was advertised as a 4-star inn but it is barely a 3-star at this point.

When aproaching the property in our vehicle the sheer beauty of this colonial home was humbling. The Lightfoot room was pleasant with a very comfortable King sized bed for two adults and had the perfect backdoor view of the Virginia foot hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. However, we were unable to taste the chef's dinner menu, but did receive a filling breakfast the following morning. For those worried about noise levels-we stayed while it was a fullhouse and we didn't hear anyone else during our stay. Our only complaints would be that the back area needs a yard light, or bonfire area for the nightowls. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, updated, and you can get cozy next to a fireplace-perfect for a tranquil getaway with a loved one!
