surprise!

Posted 16-May-2017
Hotel looked very cute and quaint in the photos. Once we arrived it's as if we were at a completely different hotel. From the bathroom counter literally coming off the wall and being proped up with a chair leg, paint pealing from the wall, random cords running all over. I could go on but I won't. This hotel was worth no more than $50/night. Positive was we felt pretty safe.

Convenience trumps amenities

Posted 10-May-2017
Pros: It is within easy walking distance of the UVA main campus, bookstore, the Corner, and John Paul Jones Arena. The breakfast was also surprisingly good
Cons: The rooms could definitely stand a renovation, but they are passable in exchange for location convenience and reasonable price.

Would recommend the Cavalier Inn if you're visiting UVA or the John Paul Jones Arena. It is within easy walking distance of the UVA main campus, bookstore, the Corner, and John Paul Jones Arena. Looked a lot better in the advertising.

Posted 22-Apr-2017
Pros: Breakfast was pretty good.
Cons: The price should be lower.
Location: It's very close to UVA and Monticello.
Kind of a small bed in a somewhat small room. Nice parking situation and very good breakfast. Nice lobby. Minutes from campus. Didn't really like the old shower head. The place has definitely seen better days in the past. They have an outdoor pool for the summer, but not April. Had to let them know about some holes on the side of the sheet.

A refurbished Rodeway Inn

Proximity to campus, easy parking. That's it. Everything else was not so positive. I would not recommend it.

Perfectly placed next to UVA

Posted 14-Apr-2017
We were on the last college visit on our spring break marathon. This hotel had lots of UVA spirit and was a few minute walk to where we needed to be early that morning for our tour. Perfectly located, clean, comfortable and breakfast to get us going.

Pros: Price. Quality of the renovations. Appointments--safe, fridge, microwave, etc. Proximity to UVa and stores. Quality (courteousness and attention of
Cons: It was great, for me, as it was!
Location: Right off the UVa grounds, Near all shopping and restaurants. Momentds from the famous UVa Corner district nd downtown!
I lived in Charlottesville for a number of years. This hotel was ALWAYS there. (Thugh I never needed it.) However, I needed it this week, so that I could meet up with my son. The hotel was a surprise. I bought on price ($55 + tax), since I only needed a place to sleep. However, it was a great experience! Competent, helpful staff. Clean, well-appointed, and re-modeled rooms. And a basic, decent breakfast! It was a great experience, and will be my go-to hotel for any future visits to Charlottesville!

I was there to tour the University. The room was a little more exposed then I would have liked; the room had large glass windows right outside of my room door. Also, the staff was a little cranky and gave me wrong information some of the time. Overall, the room was cozy and pretty clean. Also, the hotel is in walking distance from the main street where there are restaurants and a starbucks.
