The Francis Marion Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The restaurant (The Swamp Fox) was excellent in every way - food always well prepared, one novel dish, etc.. The staff was unfailingly polite and helpful (one parking valet was new at the job and being mentored - no problem). The plumbing was fine, especially for a relatively old property - almost instant, very hot water, etc.. Decor was pleasant throughout. The passenger elevators did become slow mid-morning between check-outs and tourists going to meet the ferry and other boats (hint - take a car going the opposite direction you want to go if that's all there is). Valet parking was smooth and timely. The hotel's central location downtown made walking to various attractions very practical. I had breakfast and supper in the restaurant, twice each: everything was fine. Bathroom a bit small but adequate."

"Very well appointed, clean, well staffed historical property right in the heart of the historic district. Extremely close to worthwhile horse drawn carriage rides and shopping galore at the famed city market and small street side shops. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, plentiful and fresh! The staff were so friendly for breakfast and afternoon cheeses & wine, also complimentary! Valet service went beyond plus the bicycle taxis were also readily available and reasonable."

"Staff were very friendly, helpful,polite. The room was very very clean, up to date Breakfast selection both mornings were good with a nice variety. Only two items that came up to speak about. Expedia had us registered for 3 rooms, so that took a while to figure out 2nd item. The one and only elevator for the hotel was out of order the first night and remained that way during our entire stay. Luckily we were only on the 2nd floor, but I had had a Pacemaker implemented a few weeks earlier so navigating the stairs was a bit difficult for me. 2nd"
