Not a bad hotel for a Madrid City Break.
I went for this hotel on the basis of the price, 4 start rating and relatively close location to the city centre. The hotel is right next to the Bilbao Metro station. Check in wasn’t a breeze as we had requested a twin room, but on arrival into the room we found that it was a Double. I went down to bring this to their attention, but was told that there were no twin rooms available, but there were balcony twin rooms available but we would need to pay extra if we want one as they were more expensive rooms. As this wasn’t our fault, I would have thought we should have been given a twin room if one was available regardless of its price given that it was a hotel error. We were told that they would have something available tomorrow, so we could pack up in the morning, leave our bags in the room and housekeeping would move our bags to the twin room when ready – that’s what we did, but not ideal.
The room itself was fine, no carpets, but the bed was comfortable, everything was clean and the en-suite was terrific! Very spacious, complimentary toiletries, and again very clean. There was also a tv in the room, desk chair, safe etc.
We didn’t opt for the buffet breakfast so can’t really comment on that apart from the fact it seemed very expensive and I didn’t notice anyone else having I either. So asides from the aforementioned disappointing start, no other complaints from me - not a bad hotel for a Madrid City Break.
