I am not very familiar with Japan but a $200/night Hotel in the US doesn't buy you the kind of service I have gotten here. Very impressive place in a excellent location. Highly recommended. Will stay again if I ever get the chance. The Chinese restaurant Toh Lee is UNBELIEVABLE (as in good) for breakfast.

Stayed in room 402 for just one night, but really wished I could have stayed longer. The rooms were really huge with plenty of facilities such as a Nespresso machine (with complementary coffee!), a bath tub and walk-in closet. It's situated just across the road from the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and walking distance to Teramachi and Nishiki market which are great places for shopping and finding good food. Staff was really helpful and recommended me a nearby restaurant for dinner. There are also plenty of information readily available from the information counter which was really helpful. 5 stars and would stay here again.

This hotel is really luxurious. We have a room that accommodates our family of 4. We each have our own beds, and still have enough room for our luggage. They placed out tea set for us to use and make matcha ourselves. Also supplied us with all kinds of different tea bags. Beds are clean and comfortable. The only thing is that the hotel is not close to a train station, the walk is about 10-15 mins. They have a free shuttle service to and from the Karasuma Oike subway station Exit #1, but I didn't know when I first arrived at Kyoto. The shuttle is blue is color, I think. From Karasuma Oike starts at 8:20 then every 20 mins until 21.40. From Hotel, it's 8:10 then every 20 mins till 21:30 pm when I was there. There are no signage boards outside exit #1 due to public regulations and the buses are very on time, so if you are late for 1 min, you pretty much have to wait. A tip: I didn't realize that the taxis are not that expensive. When you travel at night, there is no traffic, it is very cheap to travel to the hotel by taxi, since the time taken to travel is minimized. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel but make sure you also would keep a budget for taking the taxi, esp when it's so hot during the summer!! They have sheets of paper at a counter near the check-in which tells you how to go to different places from the hotel. It lists directions, and transportation available. I used Google map though with my data plans, it's pretty accurate.

Nice Hotel. Was out most of the time (if not in Kyoto, then Tokyo, Osaka, Kagoshima etc) so this was really only a hotel I used to get 4-5 hours sleep! Staff friendly and efficient. Suited my purposes. My overall rating reflects by comparison with similar hotels worldwide.
