Convenient location

Oldest hotel in Avalon with nicely updated rooms. Lots of noise in front of building as kids use street as playground. Front desk staff explained that 'it's not illegal for kids to play ball in street' until after curfew.

Quaint Historical Cottage Style Decor

Posted 12-Oct-2016
Pros: Convenience to restaurants, shops & beach. Continental breakfast was nice.
Cons: No shelf for toiletries in bathroom. No elevator.
Location: Walking distance to main street and most tours and rentals.
Comfortable clean room. Even though it was a very small room it had all the essentials such as Flat screen, Micro, frig, blow dryer & iron. It also had enough drawer space to store clothing. But there was no where to store our luggage so the bags took up space in an already tight room. A huge plus was the walking distance to the beach, restaurants & shops. The location was really convenient so we took advantage of coming back to our room for breaks after long walks. Also wished there would have been an elevator. Overall we enjoyed our stay & would definitely return.

Thumbs up!

Location: Located just off the main street in downtown Avalon, our stay at the Glenmore Plaza made it very easy to walk to all restaurants and activities.
This is a very quaint, old hotel with no elevator. However, there are only four floors, so the walk isn't too bad even if you are on the top. The staff was very friendly (we talked to four or five of them) and accommodating. We were able to check in early (although a mistake was made and we were initially given the wrong room, we were then given our choice of a room with a queen or king bed and I chose the king.). The rooms are very small, but clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was free Wi-Fi and a nice free continental breakfast in the lobby. It is located in downtown Avalon which made it very easy to walk everywhere. I would definitely stay here again.

Friendly staff, close to the beach.

Posted 02-Oct-2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Room cleanliness. The trash in the corner hadn't been dumped from previous guests and found long hairs in the bed.
Location: Great location, close by all the shops and shore.
I would've have given it a five star but when I pulled back the sheets I found 3 long hairs. Other than that it was a great stay. Staff is very helpful and friendly. We used Catalina Express to get to the island, I called the hotel and they sent free shuttle for us (and took us back when we were leaving). Free continental breakfast everyday 7:30 to 10am. Very close to the beach. They are working on renovations which will be nice to see. We stayed on the third floor, the halls and stairs are not all level, it's an old hotel but lol of that helped give it character. We would definitely recommend to friends and will stay there again.

Historic hotel close to the beach area

Posted 19-Sep-2016
This is the oldest hotel on Catalina. No elevator for its 4 floors. Walking surfaces are not even. We stayed in 2 rooms. They had a few issues. Water jets for jacuzzi in room 207 didn't work & were not worked on as promised. Water temperature fluctuated while showering. Bathroom overall is very small. Saw some kind of tiny flying bugs in bathroom of room 311--though it was much bigger. Loved the skylight there. Top window of double hung window didn't hold, fell down & was difficult to close afterward. Staff was responsive & very helpful. Beds were very comfortable. Very clean rooms. Quaint hotel, but if you're expecting amenities, this is not for you. Overall, however, it was fun & enjoyable. Almost forgot: has shutter service, a great asset coming & going.

It was convenient to the shops, restaurants, etc

Posted 18-Sep-2016
Pros: The room was very nice, clean and had everything we needed. When we go back to Catalina again would not hesitate to stay there again.
It was a great hotel, the only problem is that we were in front on the second floor and the noise from the bars were quite loud.
