Quietly perched at the top of a sunny hillside, amongst olive groves and rows of vines this gorgeous holiday escape is part of an old farmhouse. The property is one of 8 units, all finished with terracotta floors and wood-beamed ceilings. The entire Borgo is surrounded by the wonderful Tuscan countryside and enjoys an incredible 360° panoramic view over the Chianti hills. The ideal choice for groups of family or friends there is an expansive shared garden, a fenced swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers and a children’s playground. For family fun, there’s ping pong and table football. The farmhouse also offers a shared barbecue with a dining area and a shared wood-burning oven. The Olivio apartment is located on the ground floor of a converted barn (the neighbouring unit is ID 11728 Fienile) and opens into a spacious open-plan living room furnished with a sofa bed, a fireplace and a flat-screen satellite TV. It also incorporates a small dining area and a kitchen fitted with a coffee machine, a gas cooker hob, a microwave, a dishwasher and a fridge. Each apartment also benefits from an independent entrance and a private outdoor space in the garden with a sunshade for alfresco dining. Note: The farmhouse is located 2 km off the main road. Location The property lies in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, in the province of Florence between Castelfiorentino and Certaldo, the birthplace of Boccaccio. This central location makes it easy to reach many of Tuscany’s cultural centres including Siena (a 50-minute drive), Florence (a 1-hour drive), Pisa (a 50-minute drive) and Lucca a 1-hour drive. The beautiful Tuscan coastline is approximately a 1-hour 15-minute drive away from the well-known Versilia beaches. In the more immediate vicinity, guests can visit: Certaldo with its funicular and incredible views (a 10-minute drive), Castelfiorentino (a 10-minute drive), San Gimignano (a 25-minue drive) and Volterra (a 45-minute drive). There is also a swimming lake a 3-minute drive/20-minute walk away and the Castello Di Oliveto winery is a 2-minute drive/10-minute walk. There are two supermarkets less than a 10-minute drive away. Oberflächlich zwar sauber, aber mit Mängeln im Detail. Dusche fiel auseinander. Gartenmöbel teils morsch, Schlafcouch sehr alt. Küchenausstattung minimal ausreichend. Kein Toaster, nur Mikrowelle mit mangelhafter Grillfunktion. Kein Ofen. Wasser an Spüle kalt und plätschernd. Wir empfanden den gesamten Innenbereich als leicht siffig und klebrig. Eine intensive Grundreinigung, einige neue Möbel und Küchenausstattung (Dunstabzugshaube) und Reparaturen im Bad sind nötig und würden den Gesamteindruck auf fast perfekte 5 Sterne heben, wiegen aber so doch zu schwer.Zwei weitere Punkte, die bedacht werden sollten:Wir waren die meiste Zeit allein. Aber es gibt mindestens 6-8 (?) Wohneinheiten, wodurch wohl spürbarer Bewohnerverkehr auftreten kann, wenn ausgebucht.Es gibt sehr viele Fliegen. Draußen Essen kann ekelig werden. Fallen sind überall ausgehängt, bringen wenig und verbreiten einen üblen Geruch. Die Besitzerin Patricia war eine sehr nette und hilfsbereite Frau. Die Wohnung hätte allerdings besser ausgestattet sein können. Es gab lediglich ca. drei Gläser und eine kleine Pfanne. Töpfe etc. waren ausreichend vorhanden. Auch Klopapier sowie Lappen, Putzmittel oder ein Trockentuch waren bei unserer Ankunft nicht da. Das Trockentuch haben wir auf Nachfrage bekommen, vielleicht hätten wir den Rest auch noch bekommen können. Zudem war die Duschkabine ziemlich kaputt wie auch die Gartenstühle. Trotzdem war es wirklich ein paradiesischer Aufenthalt und wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.
