This hotel is absolutely unexpected, the architecture and history alone make it worthwhile. Booked the normal room as I wasn't familiar with it, but if I went back would go for the suite (was travelling as a couple). Very romantic for a weekend stay.
Breakfast was good, staff were friendly. We walked up from the train station in order to be able to see the town, but they do also have good parking. Room was warm (quite a lot of people worried that it would be chilly) with easy to control temperature.
The only negative aspect I discovered was that the bed is extremely firm and the bedding wasn't of quite the quality of other parts of the stay, but that's at least partially an issue of preference. Also, one can hear activity in the hallway, but there isn't much of it because of the way the hotel is structured, so it isn't a significant issue.
