Things to Do in Carvoeiro
Admire the views over the ocean from the top of the Carvoeiro Beach’s clifftops, the site of the 17th century Fort of Carvoeiro. Inside the fort there’s a small shrine called Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Encarnação, which is an important place of worship for local fishermen.
Relax on one of the many beaches in Carvoeiro. There’s the beautiful shell shaped Carvoeiro Beach, which sits just in front of the main square. Marinha Beach is also excellent, offering a number of caves and rock pools to explore. Benagil is another stunning beach.
That’s not all. Carvalho Beach is an amazing, sheltered beach with beautiful turquoise blue waters. The entrance to this beach is a bit tricky and can only be accessed via steps and a steep tunnel, but its definitely worth the effort to reach it. Vale Covo Beach is a small beautiful beach located in a cove with a huge entrance arch and offering beautiful sea views.
Looking for an underwater adventure? Why not attach a snorkel or even a diving mask and admire the natural beauty to be found under the clear waters of Carvoeiro. The diversity of the local marine life is something that must be seen.
If all you really want is a golf holiday in Carvoeiro, book your hotel near Vale de Milho Golf, a beautiful 9 hole par-3 course, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Alternatively, pick accommodation near Gramacho Pestana Golf with its 18 holes and 27 greens, beautifully blended with the incredible landscape.
Taste the local dishes, such as chicken piri-piri and the amazing selection of fresh seafood. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and cafés around the central village square, and more can be found near the Benagil area.
There is a bus service from Lagoa to Carvoeiro, but most visitors prefer to rent a car to explore this beautiful area of the Algarve.
