In planning, I did not appreciate how close this hotel was to the old walled town. It is across the road from one of the main gates (and you dont have to walk up a hill for this gate!). There is a lovely picturesque cemetery acros the road to which makes for a very scenic view. Private parking is out the back (although you still have to go through public carpark to get into it). The poo, looked very inviting but I just didnt have the time to use.
This hotel is very modern and art-y, but rooms were small and strangely designed. As I have experienced elsewhere in France, the toilet is at the front entry (in a small room), then you have to walk across the bedroom to get to the sink to wash your hands. A bath sat about 1.5 metres fom the bed. There diidnt really feel like any room to open my suitcase. There was a lovely private outdoor area where one could sit outside, but the chairs looked pretty uncomfortable (I didnt have the time to really try them though).
Main thing was there was apparently no access to food in this hotel. You could make a booking for Franck's restaurant in town, but there was no room service, no ice machine, no minibar food. They did give you a lovely baked good on check in - that was my dinner. Maybe if I had a bit more time and had planned a bit better, I would have enjoyed this hotel more.
