Lovely boutique hotel, nice staff. Great value for money. Nice area. Soft close on the toilet seat would have been nice. Less noise from the ac (not sure if that was causing it). A bit more water pressure in the shower would be great. I was fighting with the hotel room safe, but that could be my stupidity

The hotel is clean, has a nice artsy vibe. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel cannot be better. Most things we wanted to see were 10 to 20mns walking distance, and the neighborhood of the location was beautiful, with plenty of coffee shops, small boutiques and colorful houses.

Nice location for a stay in Cape Town. Close to several restaurants and the piano bar next door was nice for a late night cocktail. Staff was very friendly. I would stay here again when visiting Cape Town.

The Grey had a lovely feel upon entering, quirky, boutiquey and homely. The hotel is small and unique and the staff are super friendly and helpful. In particular Lukahnyo had amazing customer service, he knew our names from day one and didn't forget them for our whole 5 days. We enjoyed a couple of breakfasts in the cosy dining space which were really nice and being able to enjoy a freshly squeezed OJ won extra points. We had a fantastic evening on the Saturday night at the Piano Bar adjoining the property, Nina and her band were beyond amazing, can highly recommend making a night of it if you can. Lots of amazing eateries and shops within walking distance. My only downside to the property was that it can be a little noisy with guests coming and goings in the night, but I am a light sleeper, so probably more an issue for me than for others.

Stylish property in a trendy area. The room is more comfortable and upmarket than I had realized when booking. We came a quiet time around Christmas, didn’t wind up trying the restaurant Shio or spending time at Pianobar, both of which are known in Cape Town.

Great spot!
Great boutique hotel in an amazing location! Close to tons of food, drinks, and easy access to major tourist destinations. Really cool roof top bar with views of table mountain. Highly recommend!

A Real Boutique Hotel
A true boutique hotel. The physical space and design was unique and special, but functional and comfortable. The entire staff made you feel like special guest. The restaurant menu was limited, but we'll prepared and presented. The piano bar each evening was warm and intimate. The location was perfect for dining and unique shopping opportunities. In addition, it is within easy walking distance of the VA Waterfront. Due to the various elevations in the property, those that are physically challenged, might opt for a different space.

Good location and friendly service!
Lovely boutique hotel in a good area. Not far from the V&A port. It’s not quite walking distance to the wharf but very close. We used Uber to get there within minutes and it was only 2.34usd! The rooms are modern and cool. Great air conditioning, comfy bed and we had our own rooftop balcony. It is a little loud because our room (4) is in the hallway up to the rooftop bar. The staff was amazing. Super friendly and helpful. They have live music many nights, a restaurant and a front porch for sipping cocktails. Loved it and would go back!

We stayed for three nights in Room 5 after being upgraded. The hotel was just what we needed and ideally placed (15 minute walk) between the CBD and the waterfront. The breakfast was great and we had a performance from David Januari while we ate our delicious dinner in the Piano Bar on the first evening. We were delighted with the complimentary minibar but were a little disappointed that the SkyBar was shut. We would definitely recommend and will stay again if we ever return to Cape Town.

A very unique hotel in the Hart of one of the best areas of Cape Town. In addition, it is adjoined by their Piano Bar which is in itself a great place to hang out. All the staff are extremely friendly without being in your face. Definitely recommend a stay here, as it is also walking distance to the City Centre and the Waterfront. As well as a vibrant area in itself.

Staff was friendly and helpful and kept me up to date with pickup from shuttles. The hotel is linked with The Piano Bar, a small quaint restaurant, so getting something to eat was convenient. The location of the television was a little odd, but nothing to worry too much about. Would recommend to couples that are looking for a place to stay.

Piano bar was nice. Our room had a private terrace which was a good place to relax. Staff was friendly and flexible. Hotel and area were absolutely safe. Breakfast could have been more generous.

Amazing setting in bustling DeWaterkant. Close to everything, and a constant vibe about the place. This can be a bit of an issue at some points in the week if you're in the upper floor rooms below the Sky Bar and pool deck as they can be a bit noisy. Overall, friendly staff, super comfy beds, complimentary mini-bar (first stock) and Ding Dong Japanese resturatn on corner of Napier and Jarvis (attached to the Grey) is phenomenal!

Pretty area with a village feel. Hotel small but comfirtable. Rooms on the roadsude can be noisy at night at the weekend but relatvely quiet otherwise. Food good in the piano bar.

The Grey Hotel is a lovely, quaint boutique style hotel. There are only a few rooms, and each is unique. While the building and the room is showing some wear, the accommodations were generally clean and comfortable. The hotel bar/restaurant was exceptionally good, and there was live music every night of our stay. The staff also was exceptionally responsive and helpful throughout our visit. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is pretty nice. The rooms are a bit small but they have everything you need. I had a room with a porch which was wonderful. Water was a bit finicky in my room. I had to leave the water running for a while to get hot water (which in Cape Town, that feels wrong). Water was cut off randomly during one day of my 3 day stay. It was unclear why but it was fixed by the evening. Other than that my stay was fine. The food at the hotel is very good.

Cape Town has a very old water system supply. The city of Cape Town is busy upgrading there pipes. Therefore they cut the water from time to time. Luckily this has been resolved in De Waterkant.
