Clean Hotel close to Center of Provincetown

Posted 16-Aug-2015
We went on a two-day vacation to Cape Cod and had a good time. The Hotel was clean, parking included. Friendly staff and good breakfast (although I don't like the fact that large amounts of garbage are produced by every guest every single morning, due to single-use plates, cutlery, etc.) However, the WIFI was super slow or not working at all, which is even more annoying considering the prices per night- too high for what we got, but the season might pay its duty.

Nice hotel if you have a car!

Posted 30-Jul-2015
Pros: The staff was helpful in telling me how to get to places and the lady that runs the continental breakfast is super cheery!
Cons: The plumbing.
Location: You can rent a bike, go shopping, eat at restaurants, go on tours, etc. if you go to town. They do have a pool and a bonfire every night at the hotel!
I stayed at this hotel never having visited the Cape before. It was a nice hotel, nice staff, decent continental breakfast. The shower in my room would back up with water which forced me to take quick showers; also you can essentially you can hear whenever your neighbors shower and flush the bathroom but other than that the room was very clean and up to date. I would not recommend this hotel if you do not like walking as it is about a mile away from the center of the town. I am a New Yorker so I would just get on the bus that passed by and take that into town for a very small/reasonable fee, they even have a day pass for you to travel back in forth for a reasonable fee. The staff was helpful in assisting me with navigating how to get places, especially since I did not have a car and they do accommodate you to the best of their abilities. There may be nicer places to stay than the colony inn but it is one of the better hotels to stay in if you have a family or a car (as there is not much parking available in Provincetown).

Bus transportation to downtown was a plus. Nice pool area. Lots of outdoor activities for those who wanted them. Volleyball net, shuffle board etc. Also supplied gas grills, beach chairs and a continental breakfast.

One of the cheapest options in Ptown

Posted 21-Jul-2015
Pros: Great front desk staff, wonderful pool, comfy beds
Cons: Whole room shakes when someone walks past on the balcony! Structure could use reinforcing.
Location: A 30 minute walk to Provincetown centre or a 10 minute trip ($2 charge) on the shuttle bus that runs every 30 mins. Close to Provincetown Theatre.
Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way - this hotel is quite a distance from the centre of Ptown, so if you have trouble getting around this is not the place for you. But if you don't mind a leisurely walk into town or negotiating the shuttle service to town, then this is a great option to consider as a hotel base. Facilities are basic but comfortable - the massive queen beds are particularly welcome after a day of trudging around town! - while there's also a complimentary continental breakfast thrown in, as well as vending machine facilities for later in the night. The real feather in the cap of the Cape Colony is the heated swimming pool, which is an ideal place for whiling away a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine without having to trek to Ptown itself and a great place to get to know your fellow hotel guests! The front desk staff are also great - knowledgeable and helpful no matter who is working.

Cleaning staff left much to be desired

Posted 16-Jul-2015
Pros: We had a positive experience with the front desk staff (except for the lack of discretion with regards to our toilet). We also enjoyed the pool.
Cons: More thorough and attentive cleaning staff. Front desk people use discretion when discussing delicate matters.
Location: It's a 30 minute walk to most places of interest. We had to walk or use cabs to get places.
We were very frustrated by the cleaning staff at this hotel. On our second day the toilet was clogged in our room. I called the front desk to let them know and me and my husband assumed it would be taken care of while we're gone. Well, my husband came back 5 hours later to discover the toilet was still clogged. He then walked to the front desk, where the clerk got on a walkie talkie and loudly announced several times that he needed the toilet unclogged. Everyone in the lobby and directly outside heard of our difficulties over the next 5 minutes, and we received comments/jokes with regards to this twice over our stay from separate guests. Needless to say, it was a little embarassing and perhaps could have been handled a little more tactfully. The larger issue was that the problem was not swiftly resolved. My husband had to talk with another staff (the one supposed to do the job), who said he didn't know where the equipment was and brought in another staff who then walked off. After waiting a half hour in the room, my husband left and found another bathroom nearby. Our troubles with the staff continued into the next day when at 2:30 in the afternoon the cleaning lady barged into the room after knocking despite my husband and I stating we were in there (we were half dressed). She then informed us that if she couldn't clean the room that second she wouldn't be able to clean our room that day as she'll be getting off work in the next hour. We were gone from 9am-2pm that day.
