This is exactly the kind of hotel we look for when visiting England -- small, with local character, nice pub, good food and friendly staff. Everyone we dealt with at the Miller Arms was genuinely cheerful. Our room was bright with a big window that opened. Furniture and bedding seemed new. We were fortunate enough to have a room with a view of the Cathedral. Nice English breakfast. The hotel is an easy 10 minute walk from the Cathedral, 15 minutes from Canterbury West rail station, and 30 minutes from Canterbury East rail station.
We were very impressed with the newly refurbished ground floor areas. Contemporary design and comfortable seating areas make the this a very inviting hotel. Big comfortable settees and chairs. Attentive service. The staff are outstanding: friendly; helpful; well trained and extremely courteous. Upgraded to a 4 Poster. Breakfast was a combination of a generous buffet and then a Full English breakfast cooked to order. Freshly made pots of delicious coffee were replenished several times. Outstanding.
All for a great rate through Expedia.
We had a one night stay at the hotel. There is limited parking on site, but we were able to park very close to the hotel and subsequently move into hotel car park when previous nights guests had checked out. It was lovely to be so close to the city centre. Our room which was in an annex to the hotel was very comfortable.
Breakfast was promptly served , with ample choice.

We arrived very early and wanted to leave the car and walk into town. Unfortunately it was raining but we were very kindly offered coffee and a sofa whilst it eased off. The owners were extremely helpful in every way and could not have been nicer.
Excellent location for walking down into Canterbury old town and up to the University of Kent. I would definitely stay here again when visiting my daughter at the University of Kent. There is also a very convenient bus stop if I had needed that. Tony was very friendly and offered maps and insights to my visit in Canterbury and about a day trip to Whitstable. He was also generous in letting me leave my suitcase before check in and after check out. The bed (in the Writers Room) was VERY comfortable and the shower had great hot water and pressure.
This ancient city lies on the River Stour, where visitors can enjoy a tranquil riverboat tour of the town which is home to a host of World Heritage Sites. Having survived the bombings of WWII, the magnificent cathedral has a spectacular history and offers audio and guided tours for visitors wanting to learn more about the area's fascinating past.
