Tatty and in need of repair.
The hotel was very dated and tatty. The mattress felt like it was in need of replacement and the shower door had broken requiring two hands to open and close. The light fittings by the side of the had been bent and were hanging off the wall. Certainly not what I’d expect at the price I paid.

Where to even start …. This hotel has so much potential yet excision was so poor ! Staff not well trained, bathroom smelled like smoke, shower head no good, and the sliding door to get into the shower didn’t work ( I had to pick the whole door up to slide it across the tracks ) air conditioning didn’t work ( I was one adult with two kids , 3 people’s body heat!). When I complained I was told the air con on the third floor is not that good and they would bring me a fan, but when I checked in I was told the room was hot because a previous occupier had left the heat on, I was there for two nights ( we had booked for 3 nights I left early !) the room never cooled down. Breakfast was not nice either, tast was bad, options poor but worse than all that was the service of the staff in the breakfast hall. Customers had to constantly ask for simple things such as plates and food which was not being replenished. The last straw was on the second night, I called down to reception for toilet roll as I had one child on the toilet and the other had just been and used the last of the roll, 10 mins later and 100 unanswered calls to reception I had no choice but to bother a random stranger in the room next door for loo roll!!! In a pandemic this is so unacceptable! When I finally did get a hold of reception I was told they where short staffed and she couldn’t find anyone to bring me the roll of toilet paper. We checked out an hour later, ending our trip early. Never again.

Here at the hotel we thrive on maintaining staff training to the highest possible standard, however since the pandemic we have had a big recruitment drive, we are aiming to improve this daily to satisfy all of our guests. I have passed your feedback onto the various teams regarding the smell of smoke, the shower door and the breakfast. We hope that if you choose to stay with us we can improve on all your points and make it a better experience. Regarding the fire alarm, we had a fault that evening which was out of out of control. We take guest safety very seriously and will also bring this up in our next staff meeting to make sure the confusion doesn’t happen again. on registering front desk were kind and friendly. On checkout the receptionist was new and very anxious. I found it hard to communicate with the receptionist. I tried to explain 1) the lift was not working 2)some tv channels were missing (the remote was not working properly),3) The air conditioning was not working properly. I apologise to the property, I should have realised that she was new to the job and made allowances for this. I did not and left the property frustrated and disappointed. I checked in with trepidation but was relieved by the welcome the staff gave me .This impression was destroyed on checkout. On Saturday night I was willing to tolerate imperfections due to Covid. On sunday at checkout I was an unhappy and frustrated guest who is unlikely to return.

Worst night sleep ever
States in the hotel for one night as we were travelling from London to Lake District. So glad it was only 1 night! The overall experience was terrible. Parked to the rear of the hotel with overflowing rubbish bins and rats scurrying around. On check-in our details of payment couldn't be found by the reception guy and was refusing to let us in (despite my email and evidence showing from my bank account stating I'd paid). We weren't the only guest having this problem, as this was discussed with another lady in the lobby. The worst was yet to come. The room was stiffling and we couldn't breath. I told the reception that the ac wasn't working properly and they put a couple of fans in our room. The room didn't improve and by now it was late in the night, so struggled on thinking it would improve. It didn't! We had to open our door to let some cool air in the room! Clearly the ac wasn't working and they had been experiencing issues which they didn't tell us! Overall, a really bad experience and won't be booking again! So happy when we left.

I will not come back here
I will not come back here. The air conditioning was not working and they didnt really try to fix it. Breakfast was less than average with no real coffee. The only good thing is the view from the windows and the nice afternoon receptionist

Staff were excellent and friendly. Disappointed to find a mouldy pair of flip flops in room, not sure how long they had been there but cleaners should have spotted them, no door on shower meant floor got soaked. Breakfast very average as food stood for too long then put in to cold plates.

Comfy bed, noisy air con.
Extremely noisy air con in room, when we turned that off the fridge noise too over. The bed was comfy and the shower and bathroom were fine. The staff were great but there wasn’t much choice of drinks, no Guinness, only 1 glass of red wine and only 1 bottle of white wine- staff said hard to get provisions due to pandemic. We went to the local pub and had a drink which was nice. Not hotels fault then, but did put a dampener on our first night of long awaited break away.

Stay clear of this run down hotel
Tatty and sad hotel. Hotel looked a dump from the outside andthe parking area was untidy and run down. Inside it was a little better but very standard and the air con in one of our rooms didnt work so we had to move. Unemptied bathroom bin in one room as well. Yuck! Dinner was tasteless although staff were pleasant.

The stay that never was.
I’m afraid I did not stay at the hotel at all on Sunday 2/5/21 as it was only for key workers so I was advised to get a refund from Hotels.com and I have sent several emails but no response at all to date. I’m looking forward to getting the refund as soon as possible as the hotel did not bill Me at all due to the fact that we were not key workers. Good for a overnight stay + out early the next day
Really friendly staff , location is good ( ie M6 toll ) but surrounding of hotel felt unsafe . Also room felt worn out , shower missing a sliding door , shelve in shower really rusty . It was clean for as much as they could do but it needs a bit of a refurb .

Fantastic value, great view, easy car parking, fabulous bars just a short taxi ride away. Free wifi - why would you stay in a prem inn ?

Birmingham North is not Cannock
great value hotel clean comfortable rooms, easy parking, free wifi and comfortable beds. Great roof top bar. Shame about the view. I was expecting to herds of wilderbeast sweeping majestically across the plain.

Much Improved in my opinion
Much improved from our last stay here. The ground floor restaurant was closed, but the one on top floor was pleasant and staff were lovely. My only criticism would be that the red cord in disabled rooms should be accessible to a disabled person! This is something hotels should teach their cleaning staff.
Red pull cord up so high no one with a disability could reach it

Room was very comfortable, good value for money. Bed was a little soft and the storm whistled around the building (I was on 9th floor!)

Sad it was no where near as good as last stay.
We have stayed he before and it was lovely but this time we was very disappointed. The air conditioning was broken and went reported nothing was done or even noticed, we had to ask over and over again, and when they finally came the couldn't fit and was just going to leave it. We had to ask for a fan as it was to hot to sleep. The was people running up and down the hall ways all night and nothing was done. We report that someone kept smoking in the hallway outside our room and nothing was done. The staff just didn't seem bothered
