My husband and I stayed at Occidental Costa Cancun for 8 nights. I really enjoyed my time there. The room was nice and clean, and housekeeping did a great job every day. Additionally, the dinner served at both the Italian and Mexican restaurants was delicious. However, the resort was relatively small and didn't offer many activities.

Overall stay was good. However, there are many issues that could be improved upon. Starting with the pool, the towel chair saving should be eliminated. Half of the chairs did not have people in them for most of the day, but towels blocking the chairs for others to use. Both jet tubs in the spa room were not functional. Hot tub was not hot and the jets did not work. Cold tub (60f) was room temperature. Only 1 of 3 treadmills was functional in fitness room. ATM was not functional for my entire stay. I had extremely noisey neighbors, not the fault of hotel, but all doors slam extremely hard. There are no dampening effects. Most restaurants were good. Seafood restaurant was very small portions, but the Italian one was excellent. Staff was very helpful and nice. If you are going for a beach experience, go elsewhere. It is on a channel with a very small and rocky beach.

This was our first time at an all inclusive and it was a good experience. Food options were delicious and staff were very attentive. Some food options could be filled more often as they got cold but that was only for a couple options. Our hotel room was decent as well. The A/C started leaking on our second day creating a large puddle in the front of the room, but they sent someone down and he was able to fix the issue quickly. Great customer service. Hotel beach is very nice, though it can get very busy if you don’t reserve a spot earlier. Pros are the hotel is very close to the ferry required to go to Isla Mujeres and the hotel pool is very big and lots of space. Staff in the tour booking area were very helpful as well and helped us book a tour to Chichén Itzá which was excellent. Overall, a good experience at Occidental Costa Cancun.

The resort was small, but perfect for the family to hang by the pool and relax. Restaurant options were limited but for the price, it was more than acceptable. The staff was very friendly and the resort was clean. The rooms were simple and the beds, linens, towels were not of fine quality but they were clean and again that is what was expected. There were not a lot of activities to do at the resort itself, but excursions were available offsite. We always felt safe and we had no problems or complaints.

Nice location but has some serious issues. Inadequate dining facilities for the number of rooms they have. No hot water in shower which sprayed water over the entire bathroom due to leaks. Electrical plugs are so worn that plugs won't stay plugged in. Oh, and the water was completely turned off at night to the entire hotel! Save your money or go somewhere 4.

Was supposed to have two connected rooms, 1st night they were in different builds (we had two 25 year olds with us so me and my wife slept in different rooms) moved us to side by side rooms that was a downgrade but made us sign a no refund paper, still not connecting rooms. Front desk staff was not concerned just said nothing they could do. Manager is the one who finally got rooms next to each other. Last day of the trip there was no running water in the resort , so no way to flush toilets, shower, etc. housekeeping was bucketing water out of the pool like this was normal. Not impressed with this resort at all. Pictures make it look larger than it is. No swim up bar

This property allows guests to block off beach chairs for “hours” without anyone sitting in them…. This should not be allowed as seating around the pool & beach is very limited. Also, the way that you have to make reservations for dinner is not good…. You must make reservations daily & a long line forms, by the time you get to the front of the line either all restaurants are full or there are ridiculously late times available 9pm or 10pm only…. Also, if you don’t have a reservation, they will not seat you, even if there are plenty of empty tables available. They need to re- think some of their operational methods….

Just came back from spending a few days at Occidental Cost Cancun. I have read many reviews complaining about the lengthy check in. Ours was pretty quick so we cannot complain about that. The one thing after the check in we did not really care for was the sales pitch about the sister resort etc. The room was spacious and had everything needed. The mini fridge was well stocked. This is a small property so no matter where your room is, it will be noisy at night until the nightly entertainment ends. We have only eaten at the buffet as I did not want to spend hours in line waiting to make a reservation for the a la carte restaurants. Food at the buffet was good, there was a good variety and everything was tasty so there was no issues there. We found the drinks to be very watered down although tasty. If you like to swim and snorkel this is not a place for you. Unfortunately not much they can do about this issue but the beach is small and crammed because the docking for the boats is right next door so there is not much space. The area for swimming is blocked off and pretty small. The noise and smell of the gas coming from all the boats was rather annoying. I will not be returning to this property.

Lo único malo de este hotel fue la playa, deberían quitar las piedras de la orilla, también la persona que me tocó para el check in fue la misma que el check out y si fue algo prepotente, pero no por eso dejaré de lado que los demás fueron excelentes, trato súper bueno, la comida está muy rica pero tienes que comer temprano porque sino se pone fría, tienes que reservar para cenar y se llena muy rápido, las enchiladas del México lindo buenísimas y los nachos del snack muy buenos, la alberca buenísima

Overall a great experience. The dining staff, bartenders, and activities staff were great. Rooms were clean and comfortable. That being said, the reception staff is awful. It takes an eternity to check in and check out. Most of the staff are very rude. I had an issue with an incorrect reservation. Even after showing my confirmation, I was treated like I was trying to scam them. We were not given towel cards or explained anything about the resort on arrival. The next day, we had an issue with the towel service, and the front desk representative was again rude and condescending. Even though every other aspect of our stay was wonderful, I probably would not stay here again because the front desk was THAT BAD.

The property was clean and safe. The check-in process wasa nightmare! Our rooms were not ready at 3 pm. Some of the staff espically the front desk were rude.

This is a solid middle of the road property. Nothing terrible, but notthing that stands out. Pool is a bit small but acceptable, and there is no swim up bar despite some descriptions stating there is. The beach is not up to standard due to the locatoon at the mouth of a busy waterway. Food is average and restaurants are acceptable. Basic fair that you find at any resort. Room size is good and housekeeping did a good job. If ypu are looking for a budget property that isn't a dump then this is a good choice. But, there are much better places for a few dollars more.

This property was good but at the same time bad. Good: -Great area to take public transportation -Great view of the ocean -Food was good -Felt like a clean hotel Bad: -Checkin was bad (takes way too long and no rundown of the amenities) -Bar service was worse I've seen. Nice location to spend a few days away. Everyone was kind, attentive, and very respectful. The a México Lindo restaurante was amazing...try the coconut ice cream it was amazing. Stephany was awesome as well. Only one thing to share would be get up extra early and claim a beach or pool seat. People wake up and place towels on chairs and then you won't have anywhere to be. It's pretty full by 7 am. Restaurants had many varieties of food and snacks. Overall it was a pretty good stay!
