Enjoyable stay

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Pros: Atmosphere and staff.
Location: Attractive village. Nene valley railway. Burleigh House. Kirby Hall. Longthorpe Tower
Beautiful building. Very friendly and supportive staff. Real ale and good food. Very comfortable bed. Stairs a bit tricky so maybe choose the outside rooms if you are older!

Quiet and close to Stamford Centre and Peterboroug

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Pros: The quietness of it.
Location: Visit Peterborough and Stamford, as well as Burghley House.
Lovely stay at The White Hart. The room was clean and comfortable. The parking was great. We had room 5 in the Cart Hovel, which was lovely, though taking a shower was a bit odd as the bathroom was for disability use and water went everywhere as the room was one big shower. Loved the pub. Staff was friendly, great breakfast as well. Would stay again.

Nice place... but

reception is behind the bar which is awkward. Veggie meals were mainly "off" the menu. Rooms are good, but could do with some work in the one I stayed in (room 4) Breakfast is good.

Stayed 1 night while on business in the area. Made to feel welcome and the food was fabulous - as a lone female travelling, it is important to have a great service.

A bruising experience

If it were not for two difficulties I would be marking this establishment much higher. The first was that we stayed on a Sunday and they stop serving meals at 4pm; they said it is noted on their website but it is not on Hotels.com. Secondly I stayed in room 1 and the shower is a death trap it has a step going to it and I found to my extreme pain that it is not surprisingly very slippery when wet; on leaving it I went hurtling across the floor landing so heavily my colleague came from another room to check if I was ok and it is a miracle that I did not break any bones.

Food was excellent quality with options to eat in restaurant or bar. Hospitality was very friendly. Made an overnight stop on a business trip to Peterborough area thoroughly enjoyable.

Lovely hotel, only problem i had was my room was above the bar and could get a little noisey, breakfast excellent.
