We found it to be a sub standard Travelodge.

Pros: Location
Cons: Replace carpet. Double glaze windows. Fit customer controlled heating. Remove rubber slip mat from bathroom and fit pads to bath floor.
Location: Quiet town.
The room we had mould spots around the bath. The window was single glaze and did not shut properly due to outside creepers growing in. The corridor leading to the room also had plants growing in through the windows preventing them from being closed. Again mould around the window. Also no heating was on - which consisted of piped radiator but this was not an issue due to the September heat wave this year. And the other gripe was the carpet in the room definitely needed replacing as covered in stains. And finally the shower was a bath with shower sheet type but the bath floor is slippery. There was a rubber mat to put in the bath rolled up by the sink.....nice. The room was located well away from the roads and was very quiet. Breakfast was ok and the hotel had off road parking and is located in the centre of Oundle. Staff were very friendly. We did not mention the issues listed above during our stay as the faults are so visual that it's a lack of common sense hotel maintenance issue and not a bad staffing problem - you should only need to complain about bedding / staff attitude / food on a stay and not the fixed parts of a room as this just indicates skimping on maintenance.

Historic hotel in the heart of town

Posted 10-Sep-2016 on Hotels
Stayed one night to break a journey. Lovely old building in the heart of historic Oundle. Very comfortable rooms with modern bathrooms. Excellent breakfast. Very pleasant staff. It is an old building so there are lots of stairs. Would certainly stay again.

Hotel with character

Pros: Hotel full of character and history, excellent facilities and comfortable room
Cons: Speed of staff in serving in restaurant and at reception. Had confusion over final bill because of mix up with a person with the same surname - ineffi
Excellent historic hotel, but serving in restaurant was very slow and there was confusion over the final bill because of another guest with the same surname.

Lovely hotel let down by breakfast arrangements

Posted 03-Jun-2016 on Hotels
Lovely hotel, stayed many times, but I was surprised on this occasion to be given a half hour slot (9:30-10:00) for breakfast! Even more surprised to find that at this point there was very little continental breakfast left to eat. Weetabix, toast and coffee did not really meet expectations.
