Lovely setting but the rooms need to be upgraded

Posted 19-Sep-2015 on Wotif
Lovely weather which always makes it a better experience - could hear everything going on in room next door long into the night! Bathroom needs renovation as do rooms - food is great

Nice hotel, Excellent Staff, Just a Few Problems

Posted 07-Sep-2015
Pros: The staff
Cons: Hot water, more subtle lighting in the restaurant and a proper dinner menu
The hotel itself is pleasant and in an excellent location and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. Maybe we were just unlucky but having arrived at the hotel looking forward to a bath before dinner found there was no hot water. The restaurant was a bit too bright and noisy and an all-day menu still on offer for the evening meant the actual dinner options were very limited.

Costly character inn

Posted 24-Aug-2015
Expensive for the size of room (302). Would have liked a thinner quilt or sheet only for the hot summer weather. Cleanliness plus food and drinks service was excellent.

Pros: Das gesamte Ambiente der Hotelanlage.
Cons: Siehe oben.
Das Servicepersonal koennte aufmerksamer sein und duschen in der Badewanne ist zwar akzeptabel, dann sollte der Duschvorhang aber wenigstens dicht sein. Insgesamt hat das Hotel aber einen gewissen Charm.

Classic English market town hotel.

Posted 16-Jun-2015
Cons: Hotel could be a challenge for the mobility impaired, as the majority of rooms are above ground level without a lift.
Location: Classic market town. Much to see of an evening. Peterborough close by.
Wonderful. Great ambience. Location unbeatable; market town suitable for an evening's walk.

Beautiful Market Town Hotel

Posted 15-Jun-2015 on Hotels
This is pretty much the only hotel located in the market town of Oundle. Though without much competition in the neighbourhood, it is a small hotel with surprises. The check in and out processes are very efficient, the room is clean and tidy with everything you need. Plenty of power plugs which is very useful for the numerous chargers we carry to travel nowadays. The big surprises came from the restaurant and bar downstairs. It has 3-4 sections and for the 24 hours i stayed there, I ended up visiting it 4 times. Drinks, dinner, breakfast and lunch! The bar is mainly a wine bar and so it is not rowdy; going further in, there is a sitting area as well as an outdoor area for more relax sitting; next there is a pastry counter and at the end, it is the dining area. The slow cook pork is delicious! Otherwise, the other dishes that we have tried are all very good as well. Overall, it is a wonderful experience staying at the Oundle Hotel, i will go back for sure.

Historic hotel with modern feel and great service

Posted 06-Jun-2015 on Hotels
We stayed in Oundle as we were visiting the Nene Valley Railway. Oundle itself is very small and quaint. The hotel has been established for hundreds of years but has both an historic and modern feel. The service at reception was professional and friendly. We stayed one night and ate out so cannot comment on the bar or dinner menu. Breakfast was great: we had a cooked breakfast but even with this option you could help yourself to cereal, toast, pastries, fresh and dries fruits and locally produced yogurt. The coffee was really good. The room was spacious, tea and coffee making facilities were generous. The free wifi was great. Probably wouldn't go back to Oundle but if we did we would stay here.
