Good place to stay in Cambridge

Posted 22-Apr-2017
Pros: From check-in to check-out, from reception to wait staff to housekeeping everyone was hospitable and polite. Great atmosphere.
Cons: The room, while clean and modern, was small and lacked a closet or wardrobe. The "bath" was poorly designed and the toilet area is sized for midgets.
We stayed for two nights. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful; the breakfast menu was above average with attentive service. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes walk from the historic core of the town.

Poor management

Posted 28-Mar-2017
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Management. Housekeeping. Don't put guests paying a high price in wing under reconstruction.
Location: Long walk to Cambridge colleges.
Booked 9 weeks ahead but put in wing under reconstruction with drilling next door all day long. First day one towel for two people. Second day room not cleaned til I contacted reception at 4 pm. Bath plug broken - Concierge said " We know. " Bath gel empty. Complacent staff and poor management. Long walk to centre of town. Not recommended.

Very convenient. Lively bar with jazz on Friday and Saturday evenings. Easy walk into Cambridge. Bars and restaurants close by. Only issues parking limited spaces be I think they are now payable to the hotel

Nice hotel in good location

Posted 11-Mar-2017
Pros: Clean, comfortable, convenient.
Cons: More competitive pricing. Bring back free parking. Less expensive late checkout.
Nice hotel, clean and comfortable rooms with nice extras. Marginally more expensive than similar hotels nearby - this was offset by free parking for us, but I believe they are about to start charging, so do check.

Excellent location

We stay here regularly but on this occasion we were disappointed. Do not stay in rooms 1 to 4 on ground floor. These are at back of Hotel next to Dining Room so doors used by dining room staff are slamming all the time. Not the fault of staff. Also no windows in room, only the slim fire exit door with a view of a storage tent in the car park. Our room was not worth the £180. The staff were as superb as always. Will be interesting to see how the Gonville competes when the University Arms Hotel across the square re-opens.
