Wonderful hotel in the heart of historic Cambridge. Walking distance to the old Colleges and the city centre, but also in an area that is quiet. It feels like you have got away from it all. Amazing room with a fabulous bathroom. Nice and spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast and dinner options were very good and the food was lovely. A smashing place.

We had a room in the annex. There was no offer of helping with baggage
Whilst the room was clean and the facilities adequate the air conditioning was fixed at a level which was too hot and problematic to change.
We found the pillows to be uncomfortable with no alternatives in the room. Consequently a poor nights sleep.
In the morning we had breakfast which was prepaid. The choices were limited on the buffet and the cooked vegetarian breakfast was sparse ie one egg, half a mushroom, one sausage, half a tomato and a small punnet of baked beans.
The hotel is well located and has a good car park.
Overall I felt not worth the money and disappointing.

We enjoyed our stay - there was great bed and lovely sheets but our carpet was very stained and there was a disposable plastic glove covering the smoke detector.
I booked for my parents to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. I chose the Gonville because the staff are well-trained and I knew they would receive excellent service. They had an absolutely wonderful stay and I would like to thank the whole team for making their stay so special.
Very lovely hotel, staff very approachable and helpful, perfect location to explore Cambridge. The downside was the food which was disappointing, not well cooked, and for what you got expensive. Have enjoyed much better fare at far less prestigious hotels where there was a really effort to present fresh, vibrant and tasteful meals cooked with care, flare and overall consideration.
The hotel was very clean and beautiful. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and gave us a complementary bottle of Prosecco for my girlfriend’s birthday. They were always open to giving suggestions on sights to see and things to do and the room was very comfortable and pleasant
From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome and the concierge was extremely helpful and informative. The service was very good, both housekeeping of the room which was thorough and at breakfast which was rapid and efficient. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Lovely entrance, enjoyed dinner in the bar. Didn’t have time to order hot breakfast and wait so would have preferred hot buffet. TV in our rooms didn’t work and staff unable to fix overnight despite trying which was a shame and detracted from our stay considerably
Great base for Christmas shopping in Cambridge... Staff throughout the hotel were outstanding; bar was fun (with live jazz); restaurant was fantastic; public rooms were funky and very festive; very quiet, warm and comfortable bedroom. We will definitely return to the Gonville.
The Gonville is a fantastic choice of hotel for a stay in the centre of Cambridge. It is beautifully appointed and the staff are polite, friendly and helpful.
The hotel is perfectly situated for all of the highlights of Cambridge without being right on the busy tourist streets.
The complimentary Vintage Bentley tour with Zane is an absolute must if you are new to Cambridge. Great experience with a very knowledgeable host to get you oriented and make you feel like royalty.
We can fault the hotel and highly recommend.
Congratulations, to the entire staff at Gonville Hotel, on your sterling hospitality and professionalism. Much appreciated!

Not worth the price
The service in the restaurant was truly awful
It took 47 minutes to get the soup of the day even though I requested it as I had a spa appointment in 45 mins
They also didn’t know I was a vip member when I checked in and offered me none of the supposed perks that come with it till I had to tell them
Frankly that’s just embarrassing
They also cancelled my daughters food in the same order with the soup but only after 20 mins
The spa tried to cancel my reservation at the last minute, even though I told them I’m booking this hotel only for the spa and hotel if they are busy I’ll book another hotel
I’m in Cambridge every other month atleast and I’ve stayed here quite a few times
It seems to get progressively worse each time
Hotel was lovely - couldn’t fault it!!
Staff were lovely, and couldn’t be more helpful, and very polite.

Quiet room, nice enough decor, but smallish and narrow. Bathroom has a sliding frosted glass door that was not easy to close properly, and even when closed fits badly and provides zero privacy in noise terms. Sink was far too small and drips water onto the floor. There was a big gap under the room door letting in light all night from the corridor.
