Average modern hotel - question 4* rating
Having booked a weekend break, we were thoroughly disappointed to find on checking in at reception, that they had no availability in the restaurant that evening, nor did they have any spa treatment availability - both reasons for booking this hotel. There is nothing else to bring you here, as it is a new build village complex and miles from anywhere else, and had we known, we would have stayed in much closer proximity to Cambridge.
With modern communications I don't think it unreasonable to alert guests, by email/text, to the fact that their two primary offerings - restaurant/spa, are unavailable. Had we known we would have rebooked somewhere else.
We were had no compensatory offer from the receptionists. We were even billed for delivering room service!
