Rooms were exceedingly, uncomfortably hot.
Shower door didn't fit and therefore leaked profusely
The old faded-class (as opposed to shabby chic) house is still alluring despite its tired fixtures and fittings eclectic collection of seemingly random things.
Staff were fastidious and very helpful.
Our room was very good, comfortable bed, fabulous shower. It was nice to have both bath and separate shower. Full breakfast was fine but not the best I have experienced. Hotel ground and location to Cambridge city center all good

We only stayed in Cambridge for one night, but were so pleased we chose the Varsity Hotel. Our room was lovely; very clean, spacious and had a balcony. All staff were helpful and professional. We had a car and they offer a valet service. Definitely recommend this. The staff took very good care of our car and there is really no where else to park and the streets are very narrow. The location of the hotel is perfect; walking distance to explore the downtown and some great restaurants for dinner. Loved it. Would stay there again!

This hotel is convenient if you have a car but not if you do not. It is ok but the beds are not great and the pillows are awful. It is not a bad price and the breakfast is good. It also has a very good gym and nice pool. Overall I would say that this hotel is perfectly fine it is just that the bedrooms are ok but not of a 4 star standard. Also on weekends there is always noisy groups who seem to come back to their bedrooms in the early hours which is rather annoying.
The staff are friendly though. It takes about 15 minutes to drive into Cambridge so long as there is no traffic.
Floating in the misty fens, this beautiful university city attracts hordes of visitors to its gothic spires, shady cloisters and wide open parks. In the summer, sun seekers punt along the Cam or picnic under the willows that line its banks. Strawberry Fair free music festival takes place early in June and the city's famous folk festival is in July. The view from Castle Hill is worth the climb.
