The hotel was very quaint, right next to an old church. Our room was great, except narrow stairway and no elevator. Church bells started at 7am, so no sleeping in. Breakfast was great, included in our deal. Only complaint is that we could only check in between 3:30 and 7:30pm, so couldn't leave our luggage, had to stay around there and missed out on hours of sightseeing.

Good location for train station,Best Western bette

Posted 24-Oct-2016
Cons: See above
Location: Train station
We were disappointed in dirty shabby room. It needs some upgrading/ paint/ brighter light bulbs! The ceiling was covered in dark brown fabric sooo dark esp on a rainy day! The pillow was full of lumpy chunks ( Eeeuw - what is it?) The bed sagged in the midldle, making it necessary to hang onto the edges so we weren't a heap in the middle! Could be cute , it just needs some attention. This is not close to any restaurants except BWestern Four Seasons which was closed.

We would stay again....

Posted 19-Jun-2015 on Hotels
Bottom line, we would stay at this hotel again. It is about 30 minutes from Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery and it would be better to be a bit closer, but that is not a reflection on the hotel. The breakfast is well worth the cost at 8 or 8.50 euro per person. Nothing hot, but very good. The dinner was also fantastic if a bit pricey. Another item to be aware of that the entire town shuts down by 8 or 9 PM. We had read other reviews that the church bells are difficult. They are loud, but stop by 10 PM and do not start again until 7 AM. They did not bother us but they will wake you if you are not already up.

a Few Plusses and a lot of Minuses

Posted 13-Jun-2015 on Hotels
First the plusses , This is a Family run hotel and our rooms on the top floor were tomb quite . Now the minuses , The place is run down and funky , no elevator and an extremely steep staircase . Breakfast was very meh , and our room was musty . Will try somewhere else next time

Tucked away hotel

Posted 02-Jun-2015
Pros: Good restaurant with very generous portion sizes, pleasant communal area, warm welcome.
Cons: Tea and coffee tray with kettle would be an easy improvement. Headboard for bed. Bathroom badly needed renovation.
Location: Bayeux, Normandy beaches, Caen
Felt expensive at 75 euros per night room only. Would have been good value at around 50 euros. Tricky to find hotel by car as it's at the end of a one way street. Easy on road parking outside. Check-in straightforward with payment made upon check-in, so very easy check-out. Room very small, should really have been a single rather than a double room, as the bathroom door couldn't fully open as the bed was in the way and the only space for the tv was on top of the (single) wardrobe. Bed and bedding was fine. Bathroom was very disappointing - badly replaced and unmatched floor tiles, grubby and cracked wall tiles.
