Great suite. Staff was almost non-existent in common areas, seemed like they worked short hours as reception wasn't open often, and the pool bar was only open for 3 hours, but I didn't need anything so it was fine. The building had a great location, just busy enough around town but still relaxing. Highly recommend.

This hotel was very nice and clean, but we were disappointed with our check-in process. My confirmation said our room would be held for a late check-in, and it didn't say anything about arriving by a certain time, so I assumed we would be fine to check-in at 10 PM (we had to drive a couple hours to get there from our previous stay). There was no one at the desk, and the sign said to call a number for late check-ins. Being from the US, we didn't have an international phone plan, so it was pretty inconvenient for us. Luckily, two of the bartenders next door were still there and one let us borrow his phone to check in. If they hadn't been there, we probably would've had to go search for a pay phone or another hotel. So if you're a local, this probably won't matter, but if you're traveling from another country, just be aware that their front desk hours are a little weird and you might have to call. (Totally not the end of the world, but we just wish someone would have notified us of that before we went.)
The room and grounds were very clean and nice. We found one big spider in the shower, but I know that's normal.

I have never seen a luggage trolley in boomerang wing! I travel with my small grandchildren and I'm 62... Takes me many trips to load and unload and I have to take them backwards and forwards with me. Why no trolleys? You need 4 at least in each wing!
I have mentioned this before when I stayed.
Also the duck poo and water hen poo so close to restaurant and around restaurant is unhygienic!
We booked a 3 bedroom apartment with a view for 2 nights, as there were 6 adults staying. Our apartment was beautifully decorated, comfortable beds, plenty of storage (a few more clothes hangers would have been nice), stunning view, with 5 TV's!!!! Unfortunately I can't rate this unit as "excellent" as the little extras that make a place really memorable were missing in the kitchen, which was frustrating. We were given 1 packet of dish washing powder - 6 people for 2 nights, really!! Reception did give another packet but made out they were doing me a big favour! Our unit was not cheap! We didn't use any facilities in the complex, but it all looked fabulous.
From the moment of checking in, Shearwater gave us good vibes.
The 1 bedroom apartment was perfect for a couple and could easily have handled a 3rd person. It was very clean, had all the crockery, cutlery and cooking appliances/ tools that we could have needed.
The views were fantastic and just enough restaurant/ cafe/ takeaway options within 100 metres.
There were plenty of things to do with a great and safe surf beach within 50 metres, great walks and the "big smoke" of downtown Caloundra only a 15 minute walk away along the picturesque boardwalk.
The room overall was good. However the sliding door partition between the bed and living areas had been removed
which makes things difficult if you don't both go to bed at the same time. location is great.
Caloundra, in southeast Queensland, is home to seven different beaches including Currimundi Beach and Lake, named Australia's Cleanest Beach in 2004. Only Dicky Beach and Kings Beach have year-round lifeguard patrols. Just inland from Caloundra are two interesting sites: Australia Zoo, owned by Terri Irwin, and Glass House Mountains National Park.
