First of all the Expedia description said “hotel” - Nowhere did it say “air bnb”. Looking at the pictures it did look like a house but no description saying each room had its own bathroom, fridge, microwave. It did NOT say anywhere that there would be two cats and a large dog either! It DID say parking (which was on the street), and it DID say WiFi but we were not informed of the password nor an explanation of anything except the remote candles! The room floor was being cleaned as we entered even though the woman who owned the house knew we were coming a day before! The sheets were wrinkled and the bathroom had a burnt outlet and a toilet rim that was not clean underneath. The floor, the sheets, the cats, and the bathroom issues all made it feel unclean. This is a very nice place to stay, Carolyn was welcoming, the room and bed were comfortable, and the location was good for our itinerary. I didn't mind returning the cat that bolted when I opened the door or shooing the cats from our room. My only disappointment was that the description of the property and room amenities seemed to be intentionally misleading. I would not have booked this room had I known it was a shared bathroom, the description led me to believe it has it's own. This is a home in a residential community where the upstairs bedrooms are used for hotel guests. We have done that before through other sites and I don't mind it because I'm careful to choose a room with it's own bathroom. As long as one is aware of the conditions, I would recommend this place to others. I was relying on the Calgary transit system while I was there, and it was handy to a bus stop and the Bridlewood/Somerset station of the C-train line, so it was easy to get around town and to the downtown attractions and Stampede Park even from a location in the far south of the city. If people do not like animals (cats/dogs) then they should not pick this lodging option, but otherwise, I would highly recommend it. The hostess left a booklet in the room with basic instructions and that was the only interaction we had with her outside the pre stay texts. The bed was very comfortable as promised but through her booklet I felt she really wanted to sell me one. There were no towels in our room but I was able to snag a couple from the rack in the hallway. It wasn't really clear that I should do that but I needed them. The worst part, though, was that I wasn't aware that we would be sharing the bathroom with the room next door. It wasn't a problem as the other room seemed to be unoccupied anyway, but I wouldn't have booked it had I known beforehand. The last night we were there we were unable to get in but luckily someone else who was staying there came along and showed us the 'trick' to open the door. I knew that this was not a hotel and I was not expecting to be catered to but it seemed unprofessional at best. Oh yes! Where to start? Also woke to a freezing room with no extra bedding. Close to Spruce Meadows and not far from other amenities. Nice little corner store just down the street. I checked in late and left early and arrived back late every night so I did not see anyone except for the third nite. Where else will you meet a vacationer from China, a triathlete and a Canadian business person sitting around the kitchen table enjoying stories and laughter. Direct Line Accommodations is one of the best. The self check in is great. I never worry about getting there. When I arrive I know my room is ready, no matter the time. The location is excellent. Close to anything you could want to do. Good eats and good shopping or transportation. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. I can honestly say I have never slept on a more comfortable bed or had such a good sleep at any place I've been. This was comfy and no hassle with coming and going as we pleased. Our stay was great, there is a full kitchen in the main floor of the house that we used every day. Our bed was really comfy and our room was quiet and very clean. The owner was working out of town at the time so the communal areas of the home were in need of a bit of TLC. There is always parking available on the street. Little jewel southwards from Calgary and for a very cheap deal! My stay was most satisfying and comfortable in this quiet neighborhood. The hosts were very trusting and open-minded, basically you can use anything in their house. Only two key points, 1) before your stay they will need to contact you through email or phone (so have those available) and 2) pets are running freely around the house (a cat and perhaps two dogs), they are lovely though and they won't bother you at all, so I am just mentioning for allergic people or suffering from zoophobia.
