Have stayed at Mantra Esplanade (and former brand name) many, many times over the past 10 years. It has an excellent location to the Fleet Street Wharf (for diving/snorkeling/boat excursions). The reception area has been recently updated (I'm guessing bc it's an ACCOR property now) but the rooms/hallways definitely need a paint job and update; however, it's a great value as-is. Yes, there is no housekeeping unless you stay 1 week+ but this is CLEARLY outlined during the booking process. You can still get any toiletries/amenities/coffee from the front desk upon request and towels are so plentiful in the pool/gym area. It's no big deal unless you are just completely lazy. The only complete drawback and it's no fault of Mantra, but Yi's (the so-called brekky/coffee shop located in the lobby) is WOEFULLY bad. Apparently, it's a rental property that Mantra has no control over, but it is awful. Don't waste your time, especially if you're in a hurry. The Cairns Courtyard is being renovated in the back of the hotel, but there's barely any noticeable noise. I would (and will) stay here again. It's a great value for the money. I'd recommend the 1 bedroom units (or more) bc they have a kitchen (stocked w/utensils) as well as a washer/dryer (in the bathrooms) which are hugely useful.
