Hotel was for short stay OK. We have had a 4-days-holiday there. Two days were out to do excursion, so we didn't use the facility of the hotel. However the hotel is 4-star category, it is rather 3-star hotel. We have disappointed with breakfast: chinese family run the restaurant and were only toast bread, simply coffee, no muesli and poor selection of cheese and ham. But you can eat 3 warm chinese dishes for breakfast! Not for us, European! The room was okay. The pool was nice, surrounded by tall palms but it was the disadvantages as well. Lot of pigeons were sitting on the palms and they made dirty the floor and the sun beds around the pool. The public shower and toilet was damaged and not tip-top cleaned. The hotel was not expensive, but .... more expexted.
The two ladies and the young lad at the reception were not only professional but also very patient. We were a real pain in their necks but they always came back to us with a genuine smile and a real disposition to be helpful. The breakfast was too simple

we stayed at Hilton Cairns for a week and it was lovely. staff are very attentive.
However as we booked through Expedia, we were denied access to WiFi and discounted breakfast deals. This was a disappointing supreme.
House keeping staff are lovely and the room was always maintained but no consistency with when they clean the room. we has knocks on our door at 9 am and 2 pm .the way they knocked on the door didn't provide sufficient time to answer the door. on a particular morning they opened the door so quickly my husband was still getting dressed, it was a close call!
over all I would recommend to friends.
Room is good, have microwave and even stove and sink. Clean and big room. However it is far from town (close to 40 mins walk to ferry terminal). have shuttles going into town few times a day but going back can be difficult as there aren't that many taxi around (we didn't try to figure out how to ride bus). Will definitely recommend if you are driving or dont mind walking.
We had a great time in Cairns - even though it was VERY hot!!. Loved the hotel - the room was perfect - very spacious, clean and love the big windows. The front desk staff and restaurant and bar staff were very friendly. Location was great - quick walk to all shops, restaurants and to the harbor for our Reef Tour we went on. Would highly recommend this hotel!!
The Reef Encounter was the highlight of our Australian trip. The accommodations are comfortable and clean and casual. It's a great trip for anyone who wants to spend a lot of time snorkeling or diving. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was especially grateful for their patience and encouragement during the supervised dives.
I also enjoyed getting to know some of the international guests on board. It did not feel overcrowded or overwhelming like large cruise ships. It is a great experience for active people at any age. It is not suitable for small children.

Cairns is the gateway to Australia's famed Great Barrier Reef, and is a tropical getaway in its own right. Make sure to visit the Cairns Esplanade, the city's social and recreational heart. Walk, rollerblade, or cycle along the promenade. Soak up the sun or take a swim in the large saltwater lagoon. In the evening, dine in one of the many restaurants along the Esplanade.
