Stayed here overnight with family while on a road trip. Just wanted something cheap and basic but it turned out to be so much more. Our room was basic with bunk beds and a big bathroom. The room was comfortable and fairly quiet but it is a hostel so is basic and you don’t get towels (but it only costs £2.50 to hire one). The reception area has a bar and you can also buy snacks. The staff are very helpful and friendly. You have to pay for parking across the street as there is none around but it’s only cheap. The best part about this place is waking up to the amazing views. We stuck around the next day to take in the breathtaking area and mountain views. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for something cheap and simple with stunning views.

If you arent into nature dont stay here. Its pretty secluded but if you want a cute little place set in the hills at the base of your climb to snowdon then I highly recommend

Amazing stay, might aswell be a hotel! Service was great, it was clean and the beds were very comfy! Very welcoming and great amenities. Will definitely stay again!

Value for money
The room was basic but clen and well equipped enough for the value. We booked to stay one night before climbing Mount Snowdon and my only criticism is our room was above the bar area and it was quite loud due to people drinking and shouting, which made sleeping a bit difficult.

There was no parking and upon arriving at 9pm we thought parking was available accross the road, after speaking with the car parking attendent we found out you had to book a space to park costing £40 for overnight and it wasnt available until 1am, had to park in a layby and get taxis to and from the property. Turned out to be a much more expensive trip than originally planned for.

Hi Chloe, we are aware the car parking situation is difficult which is why we email all guests pre stay to inform them of parking options. We have no control over the opposite car park as it is owned and run by the national park. Despite this we hope you enjoyed your stay with us.

Loved the setting for this hostel, absolutely gorgeous views every day, warm rooms and the self-serve kitchen is incredible! The staff we also very friendly and hospitable.

A very beautiful place, I love this mountain. It was a little cold, but it was worth the effort.I am very happy with this place, and the people at the hotel were very welcoming and sweet, I am very happy with the effort they put in for my comfort at the hotel. Brilliant place
Perfect location, really, does it get any better? Rooms and showers were clean, self catering kitchen was amazingly kitted out, dinner served till 8:30 and breakfast available. The beds were comfortable and the bedding clean. Perfect for a hiking stop over - a good winter alternative to camping. Will definitely come back.

Nice location. Although a bit of confusion with the number of nights the staff was great. The breakfast a bit poor but the price was not excessive. Parking very expensive considering it was overnight and not too many cars there. New beds and mattress. The toilet a bit small and disturbing toilet roll case in the middle of the seat. Not good if you are big person or difficulties to move

We apologise for the confusion with the number of nights you were due to stay, however we are pleased to hear that staff we able to sort this out for you. We will pass your comments onto our kitchen team to make sure the quality of breakfast isnt below what we strive to acheive in the future. Parking is now at the reduced winter rate of £10 for around 12hrs, compared to the summer price of £40 for 24hrs, we believe this is a much better deal for our guests. Proceeds from the car park are contributed towards the continued up keep of our beautiful national park. We hope to welcome you back for another stay soon.

Friendly clean hostel.
Lovely friendly hostel. V clean. Food good. One problem, parking…parked in llanberis & used bus/taxi. Car park opposite is extortionate. Gorgeous view. Pyg/miners track start opposite.

Location, location, location
It wasn't bad as far as youth hostels go but unfortunately one of the staff didn't seem very happy to be there and everything we asked for was an issue which spoilt things. The other staff were lovely at all times. Not much sleep was achieved due to doors banging constantly, barrels being changed and bottles being thrown out into the bins. The light in the bathroom took around 30-40 mins to go off so you couldn't sleep until it had eventually turned itself off. You are definitely paying for location here.

Snowdon trip
Location is ideal for Snowdonia, sat at the bottom of the PYG and Miners’ track for Snowdon or to the Glyders. Service is friendly. Staff are knowledgeable and provide great advice. Nice reference to the early history of the British Everest Expeditions.

Parking is controlled by the national park, it is 20 pounds per 12 hour stretch, you need a seperate online pre booked parking pass for each 12 hour period. They sell out early and if they have youre SOL

great place to stay before your climb to the peak! the route is right outside of the hostel. great overall stay and the breakfast in the morning was good, the only thing i would say is can get a little cold in the winter months and the noise by passing cars can be unsettling, apart from that the place was a great stay, thanks to all the staff.

Pen Y Pass Winter Holiday
Pen Y Pass hostel was a great place to stay for a few days. Staff were very helpful and everywhere was clean and tidy and it's location couldn't be better for access to the Pyg Track and The Miners track. It was busy at the weekend but quiet during the week although this was in Winter, so I'd think once the season starts, its probably booked solid.
