Our only complaint is that we assumed that we would be able to walk to the lake from the house. The listing says, "across the street from Lake Barkley." That is accurate, but you cannot get to Lake Barkley without trespassing. You have to drive to another location. Not a big deal, but wish that was explained in the listing. The hosts John & Julie obviously take pride in providing a VRBO property in which you can relax and unwind. The home is situated in a quiet neighborhood near Lake Barkley with a large deck and fenced in yard. Our heelers really enjoyed running around the yard and sunning themselves on the deck. There's plenty to do with the state parks, Lake Barkley, and Kentucky Lake nearby. My wife really enjoyed visiting the shops and the dogs had their noses to the ground at the state park. I had initial anxiety the first night with having intermittent service connection with T-Mobile but found that not receiving texts from work was actually really nice for the days we were there :). It was great to getaway from the cold of Northern IL and to have a chance to unplug and unwind from the daily grind. Highly recommend this property if you are looking for a getaway near Cadiz/Lake Barkley. ##### Michael W.
