Cadbury World

Learn about the history of one of the world’s biggest chocolate manufacturers and sample various products at this interactive chocolate and entertainment center.

Visit Cadbury World to discover the history of a famous chocolate producer, sample chocolate bars and enjoy chocolate-themed events. This museum and entertainment complex dedicated to the confectionery brand opened in 1990 in Bournville, about 4 miles (6 kilometers) south of Birmingham city center. Today, it attracts over half a million visitors each year.

There are 14 different zones to explore. Take a self-guided tour, allowing about three hours for your visit. Try to avoid school holidays, which are the busiest times.

Start a tour in the Aztec Jungle display and learn about the significance of cocoa in Mexico and the Mayan culture. Find out who first brought cocoa beans to Europe and introduced them to the upper classes. Visit a replica of Birmingham’s Bull Street where John Cadbury, the company’s founder, opened his first shop in 1824.

Discover the secret ingredients of milk chocolate and then step inside the factory to learn about the packaging process. Younger visitors will love riding the Beanmobiles of the Cadabra, a ride that passes through various displays. Watch live traditional chocolate-making demonstrations and add your favourite treat to a pot of warm liquid Cadbury Dairy Milk.

Join Freddo and other Cadbury characters on the 4-D Chocolate Adventure, a 4-D cinema experience complete with motion seats. Dive into a bowl of liquid Cadbury Dairy Milk, ride the Crunchie Rollercoaster and take to the skies in a Cadbury Creme Egg airship, piloted by the Caramel Bunny.

Don’t miss The Bournville Experience. Interactive displays tell the story of how a suburb of Birmingham became a chocolate-producing village. Purchase chocolate products and souvenirs in the shop, which is the world’s largest Cadbury store.

Visit Cadbury World during one of its many events, which you’ll find listed on the website. Among these are Christmas theater productions and Easter egg hunts.

Cadbury World is located in Bournville, a 15-minute drive from Birmingham’s city center. Free parking is available. The nearest train station is a 15-minute walk away.

Visit Cadbury World’s official website for the opening hours, as times vary throughout the year. Last admission is 90 minutes before closing. Admission is free for children aged 4 years and under.
