Lovely little hotel near Geriba beach in Buzios. A little outside the main centre of the town, but daily shuttles made it easy to move around. A little TLC needed in some areas of the hotel, but overall a comfortable stay

Very good and relaxing
We stayed for two night. The staff were very friendly and despite non English speaking did there very best to make our stay most enjoyable. We will definitely come back here again.

Getting Boozy in Buzio's
Overall the stay was fantastic. In certain areas I gave 4 stars not because of any disappointment but because there is always room for improvement. The ONLY negative comments I could make were a couple of ants here and there (not near the bed), the shower door was missing (not really an inconvenience) and that's it. I went with my girlfriend for a (couples) vacation within a vacation while visiting Rio. The restaurant, pool, bar, location and staff were all great. English speakers on staff was a plus as we are from the US. I paid more for a one night stay in a Miami Airport Hotel on a connection than I did here. Would go back and will recommend to others.

This hotel is super comfortable and in a cute historic neighborhood, just a stone's throw from an incredible beach. It's the perfect place to relax.

too expensive for what it is.
Hotel is too expensive for what it is. The value ratio of what you are paying does not match the quality of the place. This is not a 4 star hotel by no means.Rooms are very small and need some maintenance. My front door was rotten and the balcony door wouldn't open all the way. I asked for an iron and there wasn't one in the whole place. There are no near by restaurants, so you are stuck in their place.

Amazing hotel Staff, Grounds, and service
We spent 2 days here and then rebooked a additional day because we enjoyed the resort so much! We did have a issue with the air condition but the front desk was super efficient in shifting us to a new room and handled all issues with a smile! There were some ants crawling around the room...but keep in mind Serena resort is within a beautiful lush garden and the grounds are immaculate! There are bound to be ants from the garden so this was not a issue for us. We simply told the front desk and they made sure they were gone when we returned that evening! Relaxing pool !( Yes this is a family friendly resort so we were expecting children to be running about so we loved it!) The location of the Resort is a bit far from the Center of Buzios but with a taxi or if your adventurous like we are... the quick bus! R$2.50 and your in the center! The resort does have a free Shuttle bus service 7 pm-12AM with a reservation that was flawless! We took advantage of their complementary bus tour of Buzios and their Surf lessons on the beach! It was a great stay for us and we will be back!

Not at all what we expected
Let me begin by saying that upon arrival we were "upgraded" to the so called apartment that I neither booked not requested. Coming from London I specifically reserved a room with a balcony or an outside area so we could enjoy the fresh air. When we walked into our "upgraded" accommodation it was dirty, didn't even have soap, and on top of all that didn't have a single window that opened. Needless to say I called reception right away and asked to be relocated. After a long discussion about how the hotel was fully booked and about an hour wait we were finally moved to another room. This time it did have an outside space and soap, but sadly was just as dirty and rusty as the first one. The highlight of my experience at the so called 4* boutique resort was a meeting with a lovely rat who was sitting just outside my window - a rather unpleasant encounter I shall say. Clearly we will not be coming back or recommending this place to anyone.

Nice hotel close to the beach
We spent an extended holiday weekend with our two kids in Buzios and decided for the Serena because of its location, close to the beach (one block away is the beautiful Geribá beach) and also because we like the "boutique hotel"-flair. The weekend was beautiful and we had a very good time at the hotel, enjoying the nice layout of the hotel grounds and the relaxing atmosphere. The kids loved the pool, although a rather small one, and the kids corner. Food at the restaurant was good, the Picanha was excellent; the breakfast buffet was very complete. However, the staff could be a bit more attentive (e.g. when we were sitting by the pool, they never offered pro-actively any service; yet if we asked for it, we always got what we wanted) The rooms are very nice, however the bath-room is minuscule, way too small. The hotel offers a transfer to the city's restaurant area at night, which is quite convenient. Wifi is free and available all over the hotel with good quality. One negative aspect was the smoking: the hotel is Argentinean owned and there is a large presence of Argentineans in the hotel, which actually adds a nice international flair to the hotel. Yet, they seem to care less about not smoking in public areas and the hotel staff did not bother either. Thus, frequently people sitting by the pool or on the terrace of the restaurant were smoking and it was frequent to find cigarette butts in the garden or in the sitting area by the pool, which was not very nice.

Professional entertainment
The Serena hotel in Buzios is a great and enjoyable place. The hand-on management make sure the guest will receive CONSISTENTLY a professional and high quality service. In hindsight the experience staying at Serena exceeded expectations - they say what they do and they do what they say. The hotel ambience is fantastic, the food in the breakfast is great, the rooms are outstanding. The service is cordial and the whole crew is well trained to offer the guest an incredible and enjoyable experience. Stress free, friendly,fair cost.

Pleasant Stay
I spent one weekend at this hotel with my husband. It was a pleasant stay, with a very nice and clean standard room, good breakfast, nice swimming pool and outside areas. Although we do not have any children, it seems a good place to go with them. Close to the beech with good beach service. Perfect place and calm place to spend a peaceful weekend.

Overall experience was a 4.5 so I could not rate any higher because of the 4 or 5 options which I was given. Good time and very friendly and helpful staff. Very patient with me as a beginning Portuguese student.

Boutique hotel, not quite 'resort' status
This is a mixed review. "Resort" is bit of an overstatement. This is a small, boutique hotel. Stayed in the room they call Superior A. On one hand...Bathroom and room are TINY and futon tatami style beds are very low to the ground..Seating is outside the entrance. Good for a night or two, but any more than that and it gets claustrophobic with two people. There isn't really any place to put your luggage. We did have tiny little bugs (ants but way smaller) near the sliding door and there wasn't really any place to elevate suitcases to keep them off the ground. And from the bathroom, I spotted a very large, local type of rodent walking along the awning. Nice surprise in the outdoor tub and private sitting area. High ceiling helps make the room feel much larger than it is. Tastefully decorated and comfortable for a short stay. Excellent breakfast. Hotel staff are excellent and accommodating. They have designated seating and umbrellas at the beach, which is a one minute walk away. Small pool area. The centro is where the action is, so you need to take a taxi or shuttle to get there. Hotel has a shuttle after 7 pm. Location is not the best, but it depends what you are looking for. on the "would you recommend" question, I wish there was an option for "maybe". I expected more.

Good location-But across from the Beach
I had the impression that this Hotel was on the beach...but it is not...you have to walk a block...and the beach is packed...not private at all. Breakfast was amazing...but dinner was horrible...recommend to eat outside the Hotel.

We took this hotel just by chance for our two day stay in Buzios during our trip to Rio. Felt it was good value for money. A surprise waited us upon arrival, to this nice and somewhat secluded hotel, with a nice garden adjasent to the bar and restaurant as well as the pool with sun deck. The Geriba beach is only a few minutes walking away, where the hote have staff providing sun chais, umbrellas and towels. But wat really topped the stay was the staff, happy and friendly and always ready to do that little extra, making our brief stay a little extra.

Has potential...
So the place has potential. First of all, it's not a resort. Drop any notion of a resort lest you be disapointed. The staff were great. The room was only OK... Lot's of ants crawling around in several parts of the room. The bed on the floor thing, I get what you're going for, and sure, it makes a really small room look a little bigger, but whatever. The TV was also a joke- I think there were 5-6 channels that came in. But again, the good news is there is potential. I think it's an alright place for a great deal, but I wouldn't put it in my list of suggestions for friends. One thing to note to- helpful if you speak Spanish, I only spoke with one employee who spoke English, so being able to speak Spanish was really helpful.

Sweet place in Buzios!!!
This hotel is of very good quality for the reasonable price charged. It is definitely a couples hotel, very romantic and quiet, not too cool for young backpackers....they should go downtown. Overall, the location, food, bar, rooms and staff are amazing, oh yeah and again the price can't be beat!!!

Below expectations - overpriced!
The hotel is over priced. Not recomended for couples, the standard rooms for couples is really small. The wireless connection does not work and nobody seems to bother. The frigo bar has very tiny bottles of water and overpriced.

Fantastic
The staff were extremely accomodating and many of them spoke a variety of languages. The facilities were family friendly without being over run with children. The nearby beach is phenominal, one of the greatest in the area. It's really a wonderful place! The only down side was that the retaurant was very expensive as far as dinners are concerned, but there are many local places to grab a less expensive meal.

Lovely hotel in Buzios
Room needs little more details, but the service is where they shine. They let us check in early around 8am with free upgrade and one lady spoke really good english which is not common in Brazil. Location is about 200m from one of better beaches in Buzios, but 20 minutes away from downtown. However they offer free shuttle bus to other beaches/downtown, as well as many activities including free surfing lesson! Breakfast was nice, but there were many many bees as it was half open area. We would love to go back to this hotel anytime.

Great Brazil Vibe.
Serena Buzios is a stylish hotel. Other than the few children (these just happened to be loud), the hotel atmosphere has a good vibe with relaxed brazilian music playing in the common areas around the pool bar. The staff, though limited in english speakers, made much effort to assist with rental cars, transfers, etc. The location is ideal for spending relaxing days at the beach in Geriba (a five minute walk). The beach service with towels and umbrellas is a huge benefit, especially on days when the beach is crowded. Definitely take advantage of the surf lessons, as this is one of the most ideal locations to learn (shallow soft sandy beach with consistent gentle waves!) Buzios doesn't get much better.

Very nice place with friendly staff
My wife and I stayed there for 4 days in early September. We had a loft room which was very nice. Private little garden, flat screen TV, comfortabe bed. Hotel staff was great, and tom kept very clean. A few minutes walk from Geriba beach, and they have chairs and umbrellas for guests there. Breakfast was okay; one problem was that room opened to outside and the pastries were covered by bees! We ate at reestaurant one night, not impressed. There is a shuttle service between the hotel and other beaches during the day, and from hotel to/from dowtown at night. Otherwise taxi about 20 reals. They arranged a private shuttle (a car for only my wife and I) to Rio airport for 70 reals/person, which is pretty cheap. Taxi drivers were quoting about twice as much for the 100 mile ride. The grounds are nicely manicured and cared for well. The pool is a shallow onek, but it didn't matter as beach is so close and nice.

Pontos positivos: Café da manhã incrível. Ponto alto da minha estadia. Muito bem servido, funcionários incríveis. Tinha muitas opções e com área climatizada para tomar café. Atendimento sem comparação, funcionários todos atenciosos. Nos ajudavam com tudo. Estacionamento perfeito, o que ajuda em geriba. Eles tem dois lugares pra estacionar, o que ajuda muito quando enche. Achei bem legal que no dia que cheguei tarde tive que colocar no segundo estacionamento que é uns 50 metros da pousada. Um funcionário ficou na rua nos aguardando. Estrutura piscina climatizada e área externa. Sem defeitos O que podia melhorar Primeiro o próprio site induz a gente ao erro na escolha do quarto. As imagens diziam uma coisa, não reparei na descrição e acabei pegando um quarto inferior. E com preços mais altos sem razão nenhuma. Decepcionada com isso O que mais nos incomodou foi estrutura do quarto. Sinto falta de uma reforma no quarto porta meio quebrada, parede descascando, piso do box bem ruim e inclusive minúsculo. Mas o pior foi o ar condicionado. Que gelava muito pouco pelo tamanho do quarto. Sentimos calor na maioria dos dias. E por fim acústica, literalmente dá pra ouvir tudo do quarto do lado. Os quartos tinham uma porta dividindo com outros. Achei isso bem ruim. Pois tinha criança no quarto ao lado. E muitas vezes acordávamos mais cedo por isso. Assim como dava pra ouvir tudo. Pelo preço achei surreal. Paguei 1.200 em dois dias. Por fim, voltaria, mas em um quarto melhor.

O hotel é bem localizado. Tem uma boa estrutura. também só isso. A cozinha esta muito abaixo do hotel. Almocei no primeiro dia e o cafe da manha todos muito ruim. Produtos de baixa qualidade.
