Pros and Cons
Great location close to some beaches and not long walk or uber to the main street (shops, restaurants, etc.). The Wifi is poor to non existent in the rooms, so I couldnt work (when I needed to) or watch any Smart TV, which was really irritating as I had work to do each day. I was able to do this in the main eating area, so it wasnt the end of the world but for the price, I expected these basics. Staff were overall friendly, one was a little moody than others but ok. the breakfast was AMAZING! so much choice and fresh goods (apart from the bread). Dinner was poor, go out to eat. the rooms were cleaned every day (if you wanted) and the beds were super comfy. I did have a leak in my bathroom. but it wasnt a major problem. Overall it was an ok place to stay, clean and quite with the bonus of a spa/massage place next door

Good property, good room, not spacious but ok as it has a second single bed, bathroom was small, shower pressure was weak due to some holes clogged. Swimmimg pool small, second pool needed maintenance and was closed. Breakfast good and dining service good including staff very helpful and kind. Not many parking spots available. Overall a good stay

Great place
Incredibly beautiful facility with amazing views. Rooms were comfortable, but the air conditioning unit had to be replaced. Staff were very helpful. Food delicious.

Lack of management service!
I am a Gold member so requested an upgrade if available several days before checking in by message. When I checked in I asked if he upgraded me and he said he did. When I got to the room I saw it wasn't an upgrade because it was the Luxo room I reserved and the photos online do not represent what it actually looks like. When I went down to the pool I told them they didn't upgrade me so they showed me two rooms which they said were upgrades. My Luxo room I reserved was an Ocean view room and neither of the rooms they say were upgrades were Ocean view. They then showed me an Ocean view room which was an upgrade and I accepted and then they told me it would be an additional cost because it was a two level upgrade. The way they categorize rooms nobody would ever accept an upgrade unless they booked the standard room. If I knew it was that way I would have booked the standard room to get the Ocean view room and saved myself money because I knew they had all categories available. Lack of management service because they did not have much for occupancy. The Luxo room was old and drab. The locks where difficult to open and lock. The only plus was the view from the room and the pool.

Expedia Upgrade for Gold customers are subject to availability at the moment of the check in, which on the occasion of the Easter holiday was not possible. As requested, we present you our best suite, in the VIP category, which in fact are two levels above your reservation, made in the Luxury category, and therefore it was not possible to change it without additional cost. Our hostel is located 800m from João Fernandes beach and all the suites have a sea view. We regret the misunderstanding and hope you come back again to reverse this impression.

Small hotel with a 30 bungalow type rooms with a spectacular view of the sea. Less than 10 mins walk to Joao Fernandes beach. Very safe area surrounded by exclusive homes and hotels. Breakfast and restaurant dining is OK. If you use the spa for massage opt for Cecilia. Pretty organized staff and R$6 Uber ride to Rua das Pedras

Close to the beach! Great breakfast in the mornings and with a beautiful view. Great pools and friendly staff. Only con was mosquitoes but they offered bug repellent.

Amazing Views in Buzios
I'm really happy I went with this Pousada (small hotel) while in Buzios! The view and pool area are stunning! The staff was really nice and accommodating. Very convenient that there is a small spa onsite as well. Here are some pros&cons/things to consider: 1. If you are reading this review in English and do not speak Portuguese, note that only some staff speak English. You can always get by if you try and communicate-and some staff speak Spanish if that helps. 2. The views are amazing and you can easily stay all day at the pool. Note that I find in hot countries the jacuzzis don't tend to be very hot-it's just a thing you have to be ready for :) There is an interesting wet sauna connected to one of the pools--but you have to ask them to turn it on--and then it is really hot! 3. The location I believe all in all is great--it is not far from the main st. rua das pedras, and the Joao Fernandes beach. It is a real easy walk down the hill, but not so fun up--so either be ready to catch an uber back up, or get ready for a glutes workout. 4. There are parts of the hotel that show a bit of wear and tear, including the pool area, but nothing that is a deal breaker. They upgraded me to a bigger room/better view without me asking. The room was big, bed comfortable, and water was hot! All in all, a beautiful little retreat and a great value for the money in Buzios.

A nice hotel in a great location with terrific views. Breakfast and pool area are great, but not able to cope with too many people. Get there early! The rooms are OK. We had a double and 2 singles crammed in, which made it feel lest spacious.

Perfection in paradise
The hotel is pretty spectacular: The setting is gorgeous, the rooms are huge and beautifully designed without being self-conscious, Breakfast is amazing, the amenities (pool, spa, etc.) have gorgeous views, as do the rooms. What stands out, though, is the exceptional service: everyone is incredibly attentive, responsive to any concerns, and genuinely personable. One shouldn’t single out favorites, but some people should be mentioned by name: Marcia, William, Eduardo, Silvio, Ana Carolina— and the entire team. I would stay here over and over again. Two minor hiccups: the shower has a small shower head (the only thing that feels not up to the luxury of the place) and I was never able to get very hot water. The same is true for the Jacuzzi and the spa. But those are minor things that can be easily corrected.

Hotel not worth the price.
We checked in and the staff was wonderful. We were informed we would be charged a tourist tax per day when we checked out. They told us we were upgraded to a superior room free of charge. I actually booked a superior room but anyway. The room air conditioner was broken and the WiFi did not work at first. They fixed the ac and then we noticed at night the tv would stop working around 10pm. Two days later the ac totally froze up and was dripping cold water onto our bed. We called the front desk and 4 hours later they upgraded us to a suite. That was nice everything worked except the tv would stop working at night. Very frustrating. The breakfast was great and the staff was wonderful and English speaking. If they made sure the rooms were maintained and the TV and WiFi worked my review would be,different. It’s not a terrible hotel but from my experience not worth the price at all. I feel bad because the staff was wonderful.

We would like to point out that we have reviewed your reservation and it has been booked in Standard category and not in Superior category, as you say in your comments. Regarding the internet, we work with the best companies in the region, but unfortunately the service offered is not compared to those of the big cities. We are looking at possible improvements. The television signal may suffer interference according to the weather (winds and heavy rains), but we checked the device and consulted with other guests and there were no new complaints. We will be more attentive to identify the problem and correct it if it happens again. We work hard in maintaining the hotel since Buzios presents many difficulties and limitations and we are always attentive to offer the best service possible. We regret that you had bad luck with the events related to air conditioning and TV signal, but our work is intensive as we try to avoid inconveniences for our customers. In relation to the value of your booking, there are periods with greater demand and occupation than others, but we believe that we offer a great cost benefit with respect to most hotels in Buzios. All your comments will be passed on to our board and studied for improvement. We hope to welcome you again to revert this image of La Pedrera.

Gorgeous view and lovely hotel
The view from our premium room and indeed the bar / pool was amazing, plus it was only a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest beach and only a 15 minute walk into the main town (which is lovely with lots of eateries). The minibar and bar costs were also reasonable - and the breakfast and daily bar food menu was great.

Unexpected extra charge
I bought a triple room- one king bed and one single bed- to invite my son and 8 years old grandson to stay at the hotel for a while if I wanted (they live in Buzios). When I arrived they pointed me that the cost of a triple room depended on the number of people occupying it and they argued that they had to charge + 33% given they had to put extra towels, etc. I said yes to have the possibility to receive my family but I felt extremely disappointed. They never added the extra towels. My conclusion: the should not offer a triple room and then charge per person. It is abuse. A triple room has 3 beds and should be offered for 3 people. I would not recommend the hotel given such unfair practices.

Nice hotel - but we expected more for the price
We booked the standard room (which was the most expensive room of our long trip) but it was very basic and had hardly any storage space (& we had quite a lot of luggage). We asked to be moved and were kindly upgraded, the room was larger but still quite basic & only had a rail for clothes & a couple of open shelves, no drawers for clothes. The pool area was lovely, the spa treatment very good and the breakfast was nice too.

Beautiful zen like retreat!
Gorgeous views...relaxing atmosphere. The hotel staff is super friendly. The spa is great. Nothing like waking up to the beautiful views of the hills and the beach below. Super relaxing. Fantastic Breakfast overlooking the pool with views of the beach. The hotel is surrounded by massive trees and beautiful tropical plants. It is a hike to get to the rooms and the main downtown of buzios is a 20 minute walk ( wear comfy shoes! The walk back is all uphill!) would stay again in a heartbeat!

The hotel looks exactly like the pictures. We got room 15, which is at the top location and probably had the best view. Fantastic!!! It is a bit of walk though so if you aren't able body, don't take this room. But the view is worth it! Clean and cozy. The breakfast was good. Some negative review about it but what do you want for free? My wife and I were totally content with it and excellent coffee. One day we lounged by the pool which is nice and clean, with white wine and enjoyed the sun and view. Close to beaches and not far from the core downtown with all the restaurants. All walking distance. If you are in Buzio this place is a must. Only negative is the Spa. Save your money, not worth it at all.

A truly excellent hotel
This is a really excellent hotel, particularly for the price. It is in a good location, only a 15 minute walk into town and a 10 minute walk to the beach (we didn't have a car and didn't need one with a good shuttle service run by the hotel at night and the easy walk during the day). The rooms are lovely, the view is spectacular and the hot tub overlooking the sea in the evenings is delicious - and breakfast is very good and with the beautiful view to look at. I would definitely come here again!

Small hotel with an amazing view
We chose La Pedrera for a romantic weekend and we were really happy with our choice. This was actually our second stay in this hotel. The staff was super nice and friendly. The view (both from the room and from the pool & restaurant) is simply breathtaking. The hotel overlooks Joao Fernandez beach, which is 3 blocks away downhill (it is a little workout climbing back...) and is not far away from downtown Buzios (a 10-15 walk). The breakfast was included and was really good. Overall, it was a great experience.

Romantic hotel with a wondeful ocean view
We booked a room in La Pedrera with my girlfriend to spend a weekend in Buzios. It is a small and comfortable hotel (I think around 15 rooms), located three blocks from Joao Fernandez, a very nice beach. We were very happy with the choice and we ended up returning the following weekend!
