"Everything was wonderful "

"I was going to stay there after an art retreat in chateau nearby. I was taught the night before by guests at the retreat that they stayed there and left in the middle of the night because the hotel is haunted and the noises in their room was too loud they couldn’t ignore it and they left telling the owner they couldn’t stay there because there is no ac. The owner gave them a refund after a huge fight. So I thought to myself let me personally go and tell them the truth about what they told me. Now the front desk lady laughed saying she didn’t mind the ghosts. But I told her please let me talk to the owners and see if they can give me the refund so that I don’t have to go through this. I begged them on the phone. These men hysterically yelled at me telling me I’m making up stories, that I’m a liar. Now tell me why and who lies about such a thing? Let alone how uncomfortable it is to confess a truth that is superstitious to a lot of people.I am a girl, alone, so I can get scared and no one will care or bring me comfort if I am put in a bad situation so I have to try to protect myself. After a huge drama over the phone they said ok we will give you your money back but you have to pay the first night. I agreed and asked for a refund request. They said don’t worry we’ll do it ourselves via Hotels.com, we still didn’t retrieve the money. I learn after that this was a lie. They took the money and told Hotels they won’t refund. The hotel looks so old and bad I could’ve just said that"

"We enjoyed our two and a half weeks in Rochechouart, despite some disappointing weather.The house, which was fairly simply furnished and a little on the dark side but well-equipped, was in a very peaceful, natural location, ideal for exploring the town and surrounding area. There are lots of good walks in the area which we enjoyed and it was also very relaxing and entertaining to sit by the river, listening to the water and watching the kingfishers, wagtails and coypu.The swimming pool was lovely. The temperature was consistently warm and was big enough to have a proper swim. It also had a reasonable sized shallow end which would be great for little ones. It was well maintained and cleaned regularly by the nice owners, who live in the neighbouring property but were not intrusive."

"Wonderfully well kept property. Everything worked, everything was clean and everything was provided. Andy and Lisa greeted us on arrival, showed us around and made it clear that they were always available if we needed something. Beds and chairs all very comfortable. Really nice property in an extremely peaceful location."

"Easy to find, easy to park. Staff were very helpful, good menu in the restaurant, good prices. Good night’s sleep, quiet. A very good breakfast selection. Will stay again."

"We had a fabulous 2 week stay at La Maison du Bonheur. We couldn't fault the beautiful property and surroundings. The pool was perfect for the hot weather we experienced. Cathy and her family were great, generous hosts. Getting a tour of their bee hives was a particular highlight! Overall, would highly recommend"

"Stunning old water mill on beautiful grounds.The kitchen is really well equipped & spacious.We had a really lovely relaxing stay. Some fresh foodie bits were in the kitchen on our arrival which was really welcomed after a long drive. Lots to see & do in the area.Highly recommend."
