Nice but a little dirty

Overall, my wife and I had a positive stay. R&R has great curb appeal, friendly staff, and positive ambiance. I give it extra credit just for existing in someplace as remote as Burns, OR. With the dilapidated state of the other motels in the area, R&R is your only reasonable choice. Our room was large and comfortable. They provided plenty of thick fluffy towels, microwave and refrigerator, and quality soap and shampoo. The breakfast bar was above average for an rural independent facility. Our main complaint was room cleanliness. It wasn't like you walked in and immediately felt compelled to leave, but it was dirty nonetheless. In the bathroom, there were a few head hairs in the tub, a used bar of soap, and lots of black water droplets. And while the floor looked clean, dirt was packed in every corner. We wiped down common surfaces (light switches, handles, etc.) with Lysol wipes. The results weren't "disgusting" but still "yucky." Lastly, the beds weren't worn out, just uncomfortable to us (maybe not you). They appeared to be the older basic coil style design that left us stiff and sore. // I don't dislike R&R - I'd stay there again. They exceeded my expectations considering the remoteness of the area. But there is no excuse for dirtiness - remoteness has nothing to do with it - that is something the proprietor has complete control over and can easily fix.
