"Room was clean and to my surprise and liking THEY CLEAN YOUR ROOM DAILY. I was pleasantly surprised. Our stay was great. Only disappointment was food-restaurant options chicken and hamburger only. Breakfast-no juice food was fair and warm at best yougart was trix and breakfast bars coco Krispies. Need waffle makers for those that do not eat pre made eggs and sausage. Had to eat out on second morning of our stay. Yes I would stay again but plan on going out for food which was a primary reason for staying this time was convenience of on site food"

"Adorable, super clean tiny cabin. My husband and I stayed for 5 nights. So quiet and peaceful! Mornings on the front porch having coffee and watching deer! Would recommend for a couple."
Log Cabin Stonewall Jackson Retreat

"This cozy little cabin by the lake was very easy to find, very well maintained and the host was very communicative and pleasant. There was a well stocked kitchen, ample towels and linens and a water dispenser for drinking water. The AC worked very well and kept the cabin cool in the heat. The area is remote, so there is limited internet and cell service, but sufficient to make calls and sometimes send texts. (But isn’t that the point of getting away anyway?) A caution that the driveway is rather steep and has a U turn at the top. There are several spots for parking a boat, but if you have a big truck and long boat it’s a bit of a tight squeeze. If you are fishing there are tons of opportunities - the Stonewall Jackson Lake launch is only a couple of miles away, and there are three more large lakes close by: Burnsville, Sutton and Summersville. All of them produced - bass (smallmouth and largemouth), bluegill, a few perch and crappie. We were focused on bass, but understand there are also walleye, musky and catfish!"

"A gem amongst the trees! Terrific stay for a long weekend! It is what you make of it — relaxing in your room or on the numerous patio spaces, or in the library, or in the lobby! Swimming and kayaking! We took a guided ride on the brand new pontoon boat (with a bartender and restroom on board) and that was one of my favorite parts. Everything is so accessible, my family of four even took a bike ride. Our boys LOVED the Arnold Palmer golf course (although it is challenging)! EVERYthing we ate was delicious — seemed pricey, but what isn’t? What was most refreshing is that every single employee seemed happy to be working there. Definitely a location we will tell others about!"
