We much prefer a small, local hotel and this was perfect. Clean and comfortable, with great personal service from Gladys, Jose and Fernando, 24 hours a day. Palermo is a beautiful area and shopping and dining opportunities abound. Finding an ATM can be a challenge and having some Pesos is helpful, but most shops and restaurants accept credit cards. AND, everyone loves getting paid in US Dollars.
The hotel staff was always available and enthusiastic to assist us, including dinner reservations, restaurant recommendations, tango show reservations, transportation to the airport, good shopping spots, and they found us a great local guide in Diana, with whom we spent hours exploring parts of the City.
Every local we met was friendly and helpful, from the Uber and taxi drivers, to shopkeepers to waiters and bartenders. People couldn't have been more nice. We felt safe at all times, but of course you need to be conscious of your surroundings especially at night. I had heard, and our hotel clerk admonished, not to where my Rolex at night. This is a city that dines late and parties all night.
Shopping is tremendous. My wife found a gorgeous leather purse for about $200 which in the States would have been at least double that.
We used Uber primarily to get around. Ubiquitous but new to BA and the locals are only able to use it through a foreign credit card. We had no problems, and rides were very reasonable in cost, I heard at least half the price of a taxi.
