The city's Buda Castle is three attractions wrapped up into one. This castle isn’t just an impressive building, but also home to the Hungarian National Gallery and the Budapest History Museum. Set aside at least half a day to have a look around the current exhibits and see the castle and the wonderful grounds to their fullest.
To get to the castle, you can either climb the stairs up Castle Hill or avoid the climb by taking the Buda Castle Funicular. The funicular is a cliff side cable railway which connects Adam Clark Square to the castle. Don’t want to miss the views of Budapest? You can always take the steps back down!
However, Budapest doesn't just stop there with the fantastic views. For further city views, take a visit to the largest church in Budapest, St. Stephen’s Basilica. The church is an iconic part of Budapest’s skyline and it took over 50 years to build! Tackle the 364 steps up to the dome’s observation deck – or take the lift – and you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views across Budapest.
Uncover a new side of Budapest by taking a night time cruise along the Danube river. The city’s famous Chain Bridge is spectacularly lit in the evenings and the outline of Budapest's buildings looks incredible against the dark sky.
Coffee culture was introduced to Budapest in the 16th century and it became increasingly important after the growth of coffee houses in the 19th century. Gerbeaud, one of Europe’s oldest cafés, can be found in the heart of Budapest on Vörösmarty Square. The café is well known for its delicious cakes, confectionaries and coffees, and you shouldn't return from your Budapest holiday without visiting it before you leave.
Take a trip to Budapest for a break that’s filled with new and delicious foods, cultural discovery and unforgettable views.
