Excellent historic hotel in the Castle District

Posted 09-Sep-2015
This is definitely one of the nicest and most charming hotels I ever stayed at during my travels (and I travel frequently). The room we had with my wife was very spacious (at least 600 Sq Ft) with a separate kitchenette/dining and a large luxury bathroom. The furniture is antique Chippendale style. The building is in a baroque style and is well maintained. They have a courtyard where we frequently enjoyed an afternoon glass of rose wine. The hotel staff was very helpful and the breakfast buffet was good. The Castle district is our favorite part of Budapest. You may encounter lots of tourist during the day but after 6 pm it becomes quiet. It is a pleasure walking the old streets and watch the view. There are many excellent restaurants; our two favorites were Alabardos and Pierrot, but there are many more. The Metro station on Szell Kalman Square is less than a 10-minute walk away from the hotel but you can hop on Bus #16 which will take you there. In the other direction, Bus 16 will take you across the Chain Bridge to the heart of Pest. If we visit Budapest next time, we will again stay at this hotel.

Pleasantly surprised

Pros: Its location is superb, its in the very beautiful and historic part of Budapest. The hotel itself is a lovely old building with lots of character.
Cons: The room air conditioning was on all during our stay but didn't seem to be very effective.
Location: Buda castle, hospital in the rock, plenty of resturants nearby
We booked this hotel from an online search and we struck gold with this beauty. Lovely old hotel in the historic part of Budapest that has been sympathetically rennovated with all mod. cons. where you need them. ie: bathroom and kitchenette in the lounge. The room(s) of our suite were huge with more room than I've seen in any other hotel I 've stayed at with beautiful fixtures and fittings everywhere, like staying in a royal palace. Staff were friendly, helpful and polite and couldn't do enough for you. The hotel resturant was OK, better to eat out and we chose to have breakfast in our room after buying groceries at a local shop (very cost effective) Overall, really, really pleased, would definately stay there again and reccomend to friends and family.

Great location in the castle are in Buda. The hotel is an old historic building that has bee beautifully restored. Top drawer furnishings. The room was huge. The price...what a steal, what a deal! Breakfast was great and the restaurant Pest-Buda across the street - could sti there in the afternoon for a cocktail and still access the hotel wifi.

Classy hotel in the Castle Hill district.

Cons: Air conditioning in the bedroom.
Location: It is near to the Castle and the Fisherman's Bastion, from which one can have the best view of the city.
The period furniture of the historic building is quite unique, the apartment was spacious and well equipped. The air conditioning in the bedroom could have been a bit more efficient (while the outside temperature was 36 degree celsius), but the living room was absolutely fine.

Very convenient location, right in the middle of the castle area. Rooms are huge, clean and beautiful. Hotel staff are very nice and helpful. The only issue i had was that the air condition in my room was not powerful enough.

Very romantic and historical.

Pros: The total ambiance is likened to a 15th century castle, but with all the modern conveniences,
Cons: Nothing
Location: Lots of historical sites, castle, churches, a national archive, lots of shopping and a variety of restaurants.
I would come again in a minute! Staff is very attentative. Hotel is impeccable! Easily located in Castle Hill area of Budapest, near shops, restaurants and glorious views. Staff speaks English as well as other European languages. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. I would love to come back!
