Pleasant 4 star hotel

Posted 06-Jan-2018
This hotel in my view is very pleasant and perfect for a night or two. Not a huge amount of facilities from what I could tell compared with their competing hotel a few hundred yards up the road but nonetheless it suited my needs and would happily return there. The main bar area however is a little bland and lacks character. They ought to jazz that up a bit and make it more in keeping with the rest of the hotel. There is also a second, much smaller bar area, which is equally bland but on the plus side has a wonderful large roaring open fire which is nice to sit close to on a cold winters night with a drink! We had an upgraded room which was a good size and clean and had coffee and tea making facilities. Like many hotels, a little noisy however with people walking past the room on the creepy floorboards and talking at the top of their voices at 7am! Not ideal if you want a bit of a lie in! But that’s difficult to control I understand. A comfortable bed too. So all in all a nice pleasant 4 star hotel.

Nice hotel but noisy

Posted 02-Jan-2018
Pros: Clean
Cons: Noise
Hotel clean and staff friendly. Unfortunately droning noise from the kitchen extraction system was very intrusive. TV volume needed to be raised to hear above the drone, and sleep was disturbed.

Good sized room with very good breakfast included. Slightly disappointed with the water pressure. Overall enjoyed the stay.

Great. We were there Christmas Day and it was lovely, warm and welcoming. We enjoyed the Christmas gifts in the room. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. We would definitely recommend.

Friendly hotel

Clean place staff friendly and polite and helpdfull was a lot of xmass parties going on but the noise didn't really interupinterup with stay and slept well .room good size .didn't like service charge added to food as wasn't told also on drinks ect .think people should be made aware of this not when they look at bill.as your paying a lot of money for food drinks ect not realizing your being charged extra each time should be sign or told on website or told when booking in as it should not be taken for granted

noisy banging doors

Posted 31-Oct-2017
Cons: slowing down door closing so they do not slam
the doors do not shut quietly. We were disturbed many times during the night by other guests of the hotel being up late and walking along the corridors, opening their doors to their bedrooms and then letting them go whereupon they banged closed very loudly. Also the floors creaked loudly when people outside the room walked past.

Really nice stay, friendly and helpful staff. Even left a nice surprise in our room for our anniversary. Went above and beyond for us, great service!

It was good and good location to access. Nearby train station so it is easy to go to London.

Good for a stop over

My wife and I attended stayed in the hotel for one night as we were attending a family wedding nearby. We paid a little extra to upgrade our room to a Club Room. The room itself was lovely with a separate lounge and 3 piece suite. The bed was very comfortable and we both had a good nights sleep. The hotel was hosting another wedding and I was surprised that music was still playing at 12.45am. However, in fairness it didn't affect us once we were in our room (261). However, as our room was situated at the front of the hotel immediately above the main entrance, we could hear lots of people outside who were standing there smoking and talking rather loudly. Eventually they went away, thankfully. Our room had all the facilities and more, that we needed. The bathroom was large and had a shower over the bath. The shower was very good. Overall the room was 5 star quality. We were disappointed by the breakfast experience. We were rather curtly shown to our table and then left to our own devices to work out what to do. It was a self service type breakfast and you had to help yourself and do the toast, cereal etc yourself. The cooked food was kept warm under large heat giving lamps which resulted in the fried eggs being dried out and the sausages were rather tough. We had to ask someone how to get a pot of tea and eventually we had to stop a passing waiter to ask. No one came to help us or direct us as to what the procedures were. In view of the price that you pay for the breakfasts in

Excellent

We stayed here for a visit to the Harry Potter studio tour. Helpful staff, comfy bed, plenty of room for family of 5 and beds all set up ready (didn't have to ask again for travel cot on arrival as often happens), super breakfast. Would recommend.
