Excellent hotel, beautiful furnished, on the canal

Posted 16-Sep-2016
Pros: Location; staff (so so friendly!!); quiet; great air conditioning; excellent bath facilities (altho no tub)
Cons: The bed was very comfortable (pillows too!) but it was two twins put together instead of a queen or a king, so we had the "hole" in the middle.
Location: Walk to the central square; climb the tower; stroll the streets; taste the food.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce. We are on our honeymoon and visiting many cities in Europe; Bruges was a highlight and the hotel added to the experience. All of the staff go above and beyond to be helpful and are very friendly. We also had a special interest in staying at this hotel as it is the featured "hitman hotel" in the movie, IN BRUGES. We loved feeling that "we were there!" We even watched the movie during the afternoon to escape from the heat of the day. Bruges is an amazing city, a step back in time. Every where you turn you are faced with a picture-postcard sight. We climbed the tower, ate at the farmers market, enjoyed waffles and chocolate, ate takeaway lunch sitting by a canal as swans were gliding by. There was a fierce soccer match on our last night, between two champions, and that fervor added to the excitement of our stay. PROS: everything! CONS: our bed was two twins put together so there was a bit of a valley between us.

Perfect little hotel in heart of Bruges

Posted 13-Sep-2016
Pros: Beautifully decorated; absolutely lovely staff; central location with outdoor seating area overlooking canal; delicious breakfast -- everything.
Cons: Can't think of anything!
Location: The hotel is right in the centre of Bruges. Main market square, restaurants, shopping streets, cathedrals all within easy walking distance.
We loved this hotel! Our room was at the top of the building, and was beautifully decorated with lovely exposed rafters and a sumptuous marble bathroom that overlooked the canal. The location is perfect -- just behind one of the big shopping streets on a pretty little square-let, it's right in the centre of Bruges, but feels tucked away and exclusive. We especially loved sitting outside in the evening, watching a crowd of swans drifting past, and drinking Irish coffee. The hotel staff were all extremely kind and helpful, especially the lovely evening concierge who greeted us when we arrived, gave us advice about the city, and arranged for us to have complimentary drinks before we left. All in all, we miss Bourgondisch Cruyce already, and will be planning a trip back as soon as we possibly can!

This is a lively hotel with many beautiful features but the staff took it from good to excellent; nothing was too much trouble.
