I was very pleased with Grand Hotel Casselbergh, in Bruges. Never having been to Bruges, I did not know what to expect and was hoping that the location was good, as I read online. The location wasn't good, it was PERFECT. Just a short walk to the square with the Town Hall building, and then a couple more minutes to the main square by the Belfort. It was such a great location that after buying lots of chocolate and souvenirs, we could easily stop by the hotel to drop things off or to take a quick break before venturing back out to explore. The beds were comfortable, and the linens and pillows were great. The in-room espresso was especially appreciated, and when we ran out, I called the front desk around 6am and they quickly brought me more. The spa is downstairs and is in a really cool underground sort of place, with a sauna and steam bath (which is a steam room). This was so nice after a long day of walking the cobblestone streets in the cold (we went between Christmas and New Year's Eve). The staff were friendly and spoke English. There was a little bar on the main floor but we didn't have the chance to use it. There was a mini bar in the room which was stocked with water, sparkling water, juice and liquor. The view from the Canal View room was awesome. No, you aren't looking straight at the water. But the view of the beautiful buildings was spectacular.
