4 day stay at Coral Beach
The status and ownership of the hotel had changed between booking and stay, from a la carte to all inclusive. If we had known this (not informed by hotels.com or the hotel) we would not have stayed. A number of issues with the room took too long to be sorted. Location was ok and staff very friendly and helpful. Initially given inferior room to the one booked, before changing to correct type. Unfortunately this felt like one of the ‘spare’ rooms at the end of the property and was not set up for 3 people as requested and had a number of problems. This booking was made in April yet we were forced to feel like we had been squeezed in at the last minute. We think the hotel is probably ok for people who choose to do all inclusive and for most rooms at most times and we were unfortunate under the prevailing circumstances. However, that does not mean we were able to have the luxury relaxing holiday we had hoped for. Too much time was spent wondering and worrying about the problems we were encountering.

When I got to the hotel the room was dirty so I asked to be moved and after 15 mins they moved me to a room that again was not set up no towels and no WiFi no tv in English and there was no hot water only warm and the door lock keep locking me out the room every day they had to reset my keys after 5 days they change the batteries in the door after I got one of the manager to the room to look at how I was starting in the hotel after he left he gave me a fridge of drinks to say sorry The hotel has going backwards from feb 2018 We now eat off side plates and the food is only warm and never comes on time and when it run out they no one to refill on Sunday they was no roast I waited 1 hr and it never come out of the kitchen This hotel was a 5* now it’s a 4 1/2 now I think it’s a 3 at best

Good location, close to beach.
Excellent hotel location, lovely beach. Only complaint is food in hotel, menue average but they didnt have a lot of dishes available, so went hungry a few times, . Taxi's expensive to main strip to bars & resturants, which is annoying , as eating out is a must with food choices being poor in hotel. There is no free shuttle available, so taxi's are the only option

Gambia was great but hotel was not good. The room for 3 people was really only big enough for 2 so had to up grade to a bigger room. Nothing worked, air conditioning didn't work, rooms very tired not a 5 star at all the spa was dreadful.

Fantastic location right on the beautiful beach
The Gambian people and staff at the hotel were one of the most friendliest I have ever known. The food (which I was worried about) was delicious and I loved the Gambian food but there was English in abundance. The accommodation (apartments) were located apart from each other so you had a lot of privacy, were spacious and cool if needed to be. The beach is long and very sandy for lovely walks. The spa treatments were very enjoyable and good value. Overall I just loved it all.

Very peaceful hotel situation in lovely grounds on the beach.Fantastic pool that was large enough to swim lengths.Lots of sunbeds to move where ever wanted & never on top of other guests.Rooms very comfortable,loved the fluffy dressing gowns for sitting on the balcony with a cuppa first thing.Kept.very clean daily.Had extra treat (R 7126)as could see monkeys playing nearby and Kingfishers landing just outside.Air con unit very noisy & not very effective.All staff exceptionally friendly,especially,our cleaner,gardener,Malick & Yaya in bar(who made me a special banana cocktail & made it cocktail of the week)Rhiana,Agnes,Lomin & the egg lady at breakfast,the pool guy,all the reception staff etc.Our only real gripe was the extremely slow service at dinner in the evening.The staff were always friendly,but not organised.It wasn't because they were busy either.There were several area's off the main area that were more inviting,but you got forgotten & then when you were noticed you had to wait ages for everything,which didn't make for a good experience.The white wine actually ran out of stock one evening!I'd read lots of similar reviews like this which is another reason we chose B&B.The senior management need to take notice of these reviews & solve the problem.Perhaps more staff training in organisational & time management skills.All in all though this didn't put us off the hotel. We had a fantastically relaxing stay & were looked after in every other aspect other than dinner.

We really enjoyed our stay. The security were good most the time but one male (security man) hassled us a bit and even got a bit demanding and asked for our iphone and money. The food was average, I wouldn't go full board as the restaurants in the area were amazing. Drinks are a bit pricy but beer is cheap enough. Staff in the bar, garden, cleaners, reception were really friendly. The hotel was full enough for me, I wouldn't want it busier. Rooms and grounds are clean. Location is fab, we didn't venture to the pool much and lounged outside our room right next to the sea. Info/tips: Everyone wants money! Get used to it. It's windy, I wish I'd taken another cardy for night time. A meal out will cost you £30-£40 for wine, starters, quality steak and an espresso. Go to 'the butchers shop' for dinner - excellent food Try scala restaurant also amazing

Good quiet location
The breakfast choice and management is barely 3*. If you can find milk for tea or cutlery or someone clearing tables you will have to wait a long time. There are so many basic little things they dont think about doing well. There is no urgency or attention to detail. The hotel is a long way from anything so you have to rely on the limited offerings at the hotel for food and entertainment. The whole place seems like a half hearted effort throughout. However, the location is quiet and the views are great.

nice hotel which needs a make-over
the hotel is quite nice and the view and beach just great. The hotel needs a clear improvement in the internet connection (very slow and they ask considerable fees for wireless use in the rooms). Internet connection in the lobby is free but mostly not very good. Air condition only exists in the rooms and I couldn`t control it in my room so it was cold all the time. The rest of the hotel is very hot. The location of the hotel is very calm..it takes about 15 min by taxi to get to the lively area with restaurants and bars. Off season the hotel is very quiet and a lovely place to stay for a view days. I had an allergic reaction after the facial treatment in the spa but the staff was very helpful to find out the products to show the doctor. Overall I really like the place with the fantastic view and the very friendly staff.

Dirty and run down
Our room was dirty with dusty lampshades and stained floor tiles. Housekeeping were not very thorough and the floors were still dusty even after they 'cleaned' the room. While the air conditioning was refreshing, it leaked when turned on for more than four hours and the bed linen had a lingering odour from previous guests. Room service was terrible. On one occassion we waited three hours for fresh milk before giving up entirely. Thankfully we enjoyed our time in The Gambia and the hotel staff were always friendly and very helpful. However, beware, not all is as it seems on the hotel website.

Superb location
For a relaxing get away from it all holiday the Sheraton Gambia is perfect. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly from the hotel manager to the gardeners and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are kept clean and tidy the food is of an ok standard . Not much in the surrounding area a taxi is needed to travel about but if it's relaxation you want then that shouldn't be a problem. All in all a great destination.

Overall it was good but the service a times could be better and the rooms must be better maintained as air conditioning breakdown seems to be quite common:-) also the breakfast must be a bit more varied. The dinner is quite good.

Amazing Experience
Our 5-day experience was like a month, I wished we had a chance a stay a little longer becuase our stay at the hotel was splendid. The rooms were so relaxing likewise d perfect oceanview where we watched the beauty of the sunset over the ocean. Although there could be some renovation needed in the surrounding, the warm and welcoming service made all d setbacks a workover Thank you sheraton and we look forward to another experience very soon

One of the better standard hotels in Gambia
Good quality hotel with all necessary faciliites for a good business stay. Wierdly there is no desk in the room whcih make working a little tricky but on the whole, a great hotel to stay if your on holiday or working! very comfortable.

Reception hall, while lovely to look at, does not have sufficient ventilation / cooling. i had requested an airport shuttle on arrival - which never arrived and i had to take a cab to the hotel. Check-out took extremely long despite pre-payment via internet for accommodation - all that was required was to add up the extras. Because the systems were down, there was mass confusion

The staff were pleasant but I guess overwhelmed by the number of guest they had. They need more hands.The lunch buffet was a sham but the breakfast buffet was okay. Room service takes forever so its better to go get things yourself at the reception.

OK it's Africa, so you cannot really compare a European 5*. But, it was definately a 4*+. Most things were good but then they fall down huge cracks (some in the walls). Drainage water flooding the pathways was (not) dealt with as normal'ish. Not cleaning the room until evening seemed acceptable (or at least to Starwood Hotels, as I was informed), but how can you clean a room then leave it without towels? The only day they wanted to clean before evening was of course the day we were leaving. The location is great, the local staff are very friendly and willing, and it is probably the best Hotel in the area. Trouble is they were pretty much fully booked and with little competition the urge to improve evaporates. My partner had some shoes go missiing in the room which was really ignored. The non-local management are at best complacent, as I discovered in conversation with them.

Sheraton Resort-The Gambia
The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the staff accommodating. There were a few things that were disappointing given that the Sheraton is an international brand: there is a problem with cats and rats on the property and cockroaches in my room.The electric applicances are not regularly inspected to insure their safe use. I received severe burns to my finger when unplugging the hairdryer from the circuit. I requested an incident report form; there wasn't any. Lastly, it you are using a major credit card to settle your charges, be prepared to have the hotel staff determine your exchange rate instead of the financial institution. This was a first for me.

The smiling coast of Africa
Vi var på dette hotellet for andre gang. De ansatte er veldig hyggelige. Lunsj og middags buffet kan kanskje virke noe kjedelig for de kresne. Lite variasjon, men vi syntes det er helt greit. Det var veldig koselig å komme tilbake. Vi ble tatt så godt i mot. Alle er så blide og vennlige og gjør det de kan for at vi skal ha det bra. Vi reiser fjerne tilbake

Personalen var väldigt hjälpsamma och maten på hotellet var väldigt bra och varierande. Hotellet var i bra skick och var fint inrett och utsmyckat. Massagen på hotellets spa avdelning var bra och avslappnande.Tyvärr saknade vårt "Deluxe Room" minibar/kyl, hårfön och sänglampor. Det var rätt irriterande men hotellet får i övrigt högt betyg.

Rustig speels opgezet hotel met aardig personeel
Een rustig gelegen hotel met een speelse opzet waardoor privacy mogelijk is. Voor de kamer in het groene gras kan je gebruikmaken van de ligbedden. Helaas ligt het strand (zoals in heel Gambia) bezaait met plastic vuil. De kamer (Deluxe kamer Beach Palm) was ruim met vanuit het bed een mooi uitzicht op de zee. De kamer was netjes met een goede wc en douche. Wij hebben een enkele keer gegeten in het hotel (wij gingen naar Senegambia road, the strip). Het eten in het hotel was goed met voldoende keus.

Ruhiges Hotel am Strand
Das Hotel entspricht Fünf-Sterne-Afrika. Es ist sauber, der Empfang herzlich. Das Personal zuvorkommend mit sehr guten Englischkenntnissen. Der Stil ist attraktiv und angenehm, bei Gehbehinderung aber anstrengend. Die Anlage ist sehr gepflegt, die Zimmer stets sauber und ordentlich. Das gesamte Personal stets gut gelaunt und hilfreich. Der Strand gross und sauber und sicher: An beiden Enden sind Securities. Auch das Essen ust sehr gut: international, aber leider wenig afrikanisch ... Auch hier wird Sauberkeit und Hygiene gross geschrieben.

Big joke for Gambia Sheraton
Very bad Sheraton hotel .. I never stay in this hotel again . i even need pay for network in room if i stay in pool are i need pay one more time ,, free network in lobby ,, but no AC in lobby so i can not use network if its working no more then 10 min a day ,, 800 dalasi for network in room ca 20 dollar for one day + neer they pool same price 40 dollar for one Days network . Breakfast it was 1 star hotel food . one time never more Sheraton
