Thank you Deb for posting a review and for complementing me as host and the area and for speaking to me at the time and explaining you had a cough and that you had decided to shorten your stay. I am sorry that you felt unwell ,the weather for your stay was atrocious but it is unusual for a guest to feel the cellar is damp. The Priory Cellars offers a unique apartment with stone walls and original flagstone floor and a modern bathroom and kitchen area with oven and ceramic hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer, coffee maker, dishwasher and a dining table to seat up to four, WiFi and Smart TV. There is one bedroom with a comfortable double bed and a sofa bed in the living area. Shower, Hairdryer and towels are provided together with a washer/dryerWe are frequently used by professional travellers who enjoy use of private parking and a great pub at the end of the road with many becoming regulars and for leisure visitors from all over the world and find it a great base to explore Bristol. I am the owner and meet and greet all guests, including Debs and comments are welcomed and acted on, I feel in this case the unique nature of the property may not have suited Debs and I would encourage guests to view the profile of the property before booking. Lovely and unique property with so much character! The host was very kind, accommodating and knowledgeable, and provided wonderful information about the history of the property itself and the local area. The unit is very well set up and has everything you need, including laundry and a great little kitchen. Very clean, tastefully decorated and well presented. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for something a little different, and you really can’t beat the peace and quiet of a restful sleep in a stone cellar!

Absolutely fantastic, a beautiful property, I arrived on a very hot day so the cool cellar was a delight. The facility's were amazing, spotlessly clean, the host was very welcoming and the kitchen was well stocked with all the handy things you don't want to have to buy or bring (like salt, butter, milk in the fridge.

Lovely location, friendly host and well equipped!
Apartment is a cellar but this is clear and no issues for me, although some may not like the fact is was a little dark and slight cellar smell. I thought the location and presentation of the apartment was excellent. Everything you would need and very comfortable. easy to find and in a wonderful Village with pub and great cafe. Close to countryside and wonderful bike routes. 15mins drive to the City so a car is useful and free parking. The Orangery is wonderful!

We booked this property for 2 nights mainly for the location and opportunity to do laundry during our vacation. Once we arrived we discovered the small apartment is a converted old cellar that was very damp, dark, cold and musty, with a lack of any fresh air. You have to go down a very steep set of stairs to get into the cellar. It was necessary to run a small portable heater that was provided constantly during our stay in June, which did a poor job of providing heat. We didn't see mold but could smell it! We normally don't do negative reviews but travelers beware.

Thank you for leaving a review however I feel your comments are unfair, the description and photographs on the website you booked through makes it clear it is a renovated Cellar, well ventilated, in an historic building and many guests book it for this reason. The access stairs are an original feature and I realise they may not suit everyone and so they are referred to on the website with a photograph and again in the welcome information pack sent in advance to guests who are encouraged to call or email if they have any concerns. I met you on arrival and spoke to you on 2 other occasions during your stay and you did not suggest there were any issues. The main heater was turned off when you arrived as it was one of the hottest days of the year but I would have turned it on if I had realised it would be helpful for you. I don’t want guests to be disappointed and I could have offered to relocate you to the Orangery, a differently themed apartment on the same site which has level access if I had known. There are over 60 reviews on the site you booked through for Priory Cellars and a rating of exceptional.

This is a very quirky apartment in a quiet area with easy links to the middle of Bristol. Host is very nice. However, we found it a bit cold and it would have been reassuring to be able to lock the access door leading to the owners accomodation. Floors are all stone slabs and cold underfoot, so take your slippers !

Hi Peter, thank you for your review. I can reassure you that the access door your refer to leads to another door which is bolted on the apartment side with no access from the main house. The heating is adjustable with the instructions in the information pack and I will remember to draw this to the attention of future guests .Also thank you for your feedback on slippers is helpful and we now have and leave out washable slippers for guests.

Absolutely fabulous stay at the Priory Cellars. Nick the owner met us and chatted about the history of the house, surrounding area and places of interest. The George, a family friendly pub a few metres away served great food with excellent service. Bristol city is walking distance if you enjoy a half hour walk. Thoroughly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

A very unique and quirky accommodation, with beautiful scenery surrounding the property. We had a fabulous stay this weekend, the property included everything needed (and more) for a few days getaway. Nick met us at the property when we arrived and gave us a little tour and told us some history about the building and information on the surrounding areas. Nick and his wife were very friendly and helpful. We didn’t want to leave, already looking to stay again in the near future. Thank you very much for having us!!

A lovely unique apartment
Nick the host gave us a very warm welcome, gave us a tour of the apartment, essential safety information and talked about the best way to travel to Bristol and ideas of what to see whilst we were here. He is a very nice and friendly guy After that, he left us to our own devices, we had his number so if there were any questions/ concerns etc we could contact him but we didn't need to. Easy commute to Bristol, we decided to drive ( we found a car park that was just £2 for 24 hours near the train station after 5pm booking) but busses seemed easy too. It's a lovely apartment with everything you need and more. I couldn't recommend it more. Not mentioned on the page is that they had a Netflix account on the TV which you can use for when you're chilling (The TV is slightly smaller than I'd like but it was ok) Thanks so much for a great stay, it's a lovely and unique place and when we come back to Bristol will certainly be back staying here

Hi Laura, Thank you for your review which is very much appreciated. You mentioned Public Transport, there is a bus service run by First Bus into Bristol called the X4 which is worth checking out, our stop is called The George. We are also well served by Uber and I know guests have used both recently. It would be great to see you again

A quirky and beautiful venue.
We enjoyed our stay so much we added an extra day, very clean, very comfortable, and a welcoming host. Local transport into Bristol was quick and cheap, pub garden nearby but not open due to inclement weather, the property is cosy and barely noticed the rain once inside. Well equipped for self-catering with a welcome pack of tea/milk/coffee and biscuits. We chose self-catering as it's easier to cook for ourselves due to my food allergies, and were impressed with the array of cookware and utensils, I even want the frying pan for my home! there is even a dishwasher. The nearest shop is Waitrose at Gordano services, but be aware it's not open on a bank holiday as we found out, but only a 10-minute drive into Bristol to a supermarket. We would love to stay again and would recommend it to all. If anyone has mobility issues, be aware there are steep steps down to the entrance, but there is another apartment above ground level in the Orangery at the same site. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

This property is really quirky with loads if history to it and is a real hidden gem. Nick, the owner was very responsive to messages and provided lots of helpful information on things to do and places to eat. Everything you could want is provided for you here, even a washing machine and dishwasher. Everything was spotless and covid safe too. Nick allowed us to roam around the property grounds and we spend a few evenings sitting with a glass of wine in the orangery looking at all the beautiful plants and flowers. The pub at the end of the road is lovely and does very good food (Weds to Sunday) and there is a bus stop also at the end of the road, probably a 3 minute walk from the property to take you in to Bristol. Clifton is also worth a visit as is the Bristol Aerospace museum where you can visit concorde We will definitely be back at some point, thanks Nick
