Except for the bed, the room was wonderful

Posted 10-Feb-2017
Pros: The roominess and storage.
Cons: A soft mattress topper would have made it nearly perfect.
Location: Close to everything: the Pier, Marina, the Lanes, the Palace, and all of the eateries and pubs you could hope for, all within a reasonable walk.
With high Victorian ceilings, roomy square footage, and wonderful bathroom facilities, this hotel was a very good bargain. The only drawback was that the bed mattress and pillows were far too firm for my liking. The staff were wonderful, it was one of the cleanest rooms I've ever stayed in, and the shower had wonderful pressure and ample hot water. There was also plenty of drawer and wardrobe space, nice desk, and the wifi worked very well. If you prefer very firm bedding, you should have no complaints. The location was wonderful as well!

No Frills, Good, Clean Hotel

Pleasant hotel. Needed a place to stay for a week on business. Does what it says. No frills, nice, clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. Would stay again. In fact already rebooked.

Close to the sea but let down by the details

Posted 11-Dec-2016
My trip to Brighton was not helped by Southernfail which is something anyone visiting should bear in mind - this incompetent toc will taint your trip. I had difficulty finding the breeze as the signage is hard to see after dark - virtually every other hotel on the street had readable signage - after a stressful journey I was close to giving up on my night out... The room itself was alright but the only"accessible" power sockets were under the table and in use for the tv and kettle. It would be hard for a couple to manage as it was fiddly enough for me.

Nice hotel close to beach

I was disappointed with the radiator and our heating was broke which should have been checked. The hotel smelt of Chinese food all the time which made me feel uncomfortable. The bed was not changed and the towels were dirty.

Nice hotel close to amenities.

Pleasant but basic hotel with welcoming staff & easy access to Brighton's amenities. The decking adjacent to our room could have done with a clean but, overall, we were quite pleased.

Good location for seafront and Concorde 2 club

Posted 18-Oct-2016
Pros: Good location
Cons: Improve overall attention to detail of room and provide the basic requirements that any prospective guest needs. Visit any Travelodge and compare!
Receptionist very pleasant. Room was up 3 flights of stairs (no lift) - check before booking. You may get the floor above! It was very compact. Could have done to be larger. One side of bed had a cabinet. The other side had a recess which was high : not great for water during the night. Lighting to one side of bed only. Wardrobe doors touched the bed when opened. You need to be in position first before you can get anything out of it. Better if hinges opened wider than 90 degrees to improve access or have sliding doors. TV was very small and desk-mounted (low) opposite the bed. A chair obscured it. Needs to be larger and wall mounted. Chair could be moved but not many places to put it! Could barely pick up any channels Maybe benefit from satellite system if reception around Brighton is poor? Curtain blew quite noticeably due to draft from around the window. Fortunately, weather was mild. Windowsill had not been fixed down - so it wobbled. Carpet to bathroom was threadbare near door and looking a little shabby. Not a hazard - just added to the overall tiredness of the room. Bedding and carpets were clean. External windows dirty and there were cobwebs in room. Bathroom had no shelves and not enough towel holders - basic requirements! Lots of noise during night from room above. No reception after 8:30 so couldn't complain. I may sound picky but I think the comments were fair. Most of them are resolvable
