A chillaxing stay

Posted 11-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Booked for an overnight stay to chill out after a busy week at work. Staff were friendly and very helpful. They recommended a fantastic indian restaurant in nearby poynton before we went to the club. The club had a great atmosphere. The room was clean and tidy and very spacious with a very comfortable bed.The breakfast was good with plenty of variety to suit all tastes. The hotel is is tucked away from the surrounding houses and has a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

Ridiculous amount of procedures for a BOOKING!!!

Posted 10-Nov-2015 on Hotels
I have stayed before and it was good value we enjoyed it. I had 26 guests come to the hotel for my birthday, from all over England and Wales. Sadly the process of booking anything is absolutely ridiculous I have been trying to book the restaurant for two weeks so that we had tables together I have telephoned calls etc. 1.5 hours before dining we still were messed around even on the very night and we didn't get the seating we were promised. I have also tried to book the VIP another nightmare numerous calls running around on the evening back and forward to reception when I should been with my guests! the £150 wasn't worth it the wine was poor and the table was not cleared of glasses the whole evening it was very disappointing. yesterday the hotel even ringing my guests about the Living Social voucher the place and the set up could be really good the staff did their best but the administration process is inconvenient, lack of information, time consuming and never have I experienced anything like it. I did ask about a discount but couldn't be bothered in the end! too much hassle! Sue

Would not stay again EVER

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Stop people smoking on the stairs as you enter the hotel. Stop people running around in the middle of the night drunk.
Location: one or two nice restaurants. Good ladies dress shop in Bramhall
too many people smoking in the entrance and too many hen night parties. Dirty tablecloths. Very rowdy and too much noise early am.

Business trip. First night of a new Indian chef, and the food was absolutely superb!! Expensive breakfast for a vegetarian. Full price even if you have just beans on toast!!!!

Not what you'd expect!!

The hotel has "country club" in its name. Imagine my surprise when you turn up late to check in and there are two aggressive doormen facing you. This country club has a massive underground club in it! If you want to go somewhere to PARTY this is for you. The doormen are stupidly aggressive (I was stone cold sober having just driven there and saw exactly how they treated everyone whilst trying to check in to my room) which means that it is a bit of a joke hotel. But fun, I guess. Brekkie is great and the bar stays open all night for revellers - PAAAARRTYYY! Do not go here if you want to go to a country club.

Bringing back memories.

Pros: Location and staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: better when the alterations/redecoration are finished.
Location: Manchester has everything!
We used to go here some forty years ago when we lived in Manchester. The hotel, staff and food were excellent and we shall use this hotel again when we are next in the North.

Very dated hotel. Jacuzzi bath didnt work. Noisy outside at night despite being given a quiet room. No air con, too warm but too noisy to have window open. I did not know the area and there were no other hotels near to where we were going tgat evening so had little or no choice but would have expected to pay nearer £60 not £120 for b & b. Staff were nice and breakfast good and we paid before we stayed the night but should have asked for half my money back but partner didnt want any fuss .

Disappointing

Posted 25-Aug-2015 on Hotels
The hotel is really dated and in need of a refurb. The room was very large but the beds were sunken in the middle. The bathroom was acceptable. The breakfast was very good and the staff all very helpful. So really just the hotel condition that makes me not want to stay there again.
